New album from Swedish pop "prince" Darin!

What an awesome album!
Many who annually follow the Swedish national selection Melodifestivalen will no doubt already be familiar with Darin who participated in the 2010 edition of the contest with the heart wrenching ballad “You’re Out Of My Life” that stormed to the final and finished 4th place overall. It’s been over 2 years since Darin released an album so we were ecstatic to hear that he was back in the studio last year working on new material. With the majority of the album recorded in the US, Exit is a snapshot of the current music scene and Darin’s ticket to breakthrough Internationally as an artist. As well as contributing to the production of many of the tracks, it’s worth noting that he is also the leading writer of the album. One of the most impressive points to add is how Exit manages to maintain a modern sound throughout although simultaneously, include songs that are individually unique to their own. Here's a track by track review of the album:01. "Playing With Fire" - The Opening track Playing With Fire is Darin’s latest single and was produced by none other than US producer/songwriter Jim Beanz, who has previously worked with the likes of Britney Spears, Shakira and Chris Brown. The track kicks off with intriguing electronic beats that build into a mighty strong verse. The transition from the verse to the chorus isn’t as you may expect it to be and completely took us by surprise on first listen! “You keep Playing with Fire” is repeated throughout and is the hook that will end up fixed in your head tomorrow morning. Very catchy and an interesting start.02. "Before I Pass Out" - features vocals from US rapper Lil Jon and is a pretty wild number that may come as a surprise to many. The lyrics “I know when I had enough, think I might have had too much” suggest that the song interprets someone who has their eye on a girl but seems to have had a bit too much to drink on a Friday night! A pretty perfect warm up song for a night out which will no doubt go down well in clubs.03. "Surrender" - a heart wrenching ballad with a big powerful chorus. Darin’s vocals come across glowingly here, adding an extra layer of emotion to the song. Those that enjoy his ballads will instantly fall in love with this one. Definitely worthy of a single release.04. "What It's Like" - In addition to a healthy number of ballads, Exit includes a fair share of up-tempo tracks that sit nicely in between the R&B & Club genre. This is a perfect example of the mix and is another incredibly catchy number with its hook “I guess that’s what it’s like to be in love” repeated throughout.05. "F Your Love" - A mid-tempo R&B number that has a stripped down feel with nice use of the guitar. It immediately caught our attention and wasn’t what we initially expected it to sound like on first glance at the track list. The song is about a bitter breakup with lyrics such as “So I had to make you cry” and “I’m saying F Your Love!”06. "Check You Out" - A cheeky upbeat tune that we can picture being played in open roof cars throughout Europe this year with it’s contrast of R&B/dance. The lyrics “Girl I know you must be tired, because you’ve been running through my mind all day” will no doubt flatter a few ladies out there.07. "Give Me Tonight" - Has a melody that you may recognise if you’re a listener of 90′s dance music, and you’re not far off as it samples Cappella’s hit “Move on Baby”. “Say you feel it like it, like I feel it. Like you want me like I want you” is a powerful bridge that builds into an epic explosive chorus where Darin’s vocals once again come off excellently and his vocal abilities are really showcased.08. "Same Old Song" - Keeping with the slow tracks on the album, Same Old Song is another that had us completely transfixed from the very start. The production is fantastic here and just flows naturally with a continuous haunting R&B beat. Very radio friendly and definitely one that stood out for us.09. "That Love" - The penultimate track on the disc and can be described as a feel good anthem that suits Darin’s voice perfectly. As with pretty much every other song on the album, the production of the track is magnificent and sound’s very mainstream.10. "Nobody Knows" - Released in Sweden last spring and reached the number 1 position on iTunes the same day. It’s an epic dance smash hit that you may have already heard being played in clubs throughout Europe. the track was featured by well known DJ/producer Tiësto as part of his Club Life sessions. It went on to became certified platinum in November last year. A fitting end to the album. Some personal favorites of mine are: Surrender, Check You Out, and Nobody Knows. The CD also included a bonus CD "Tolkningarna" which has six extra tracks on it!1. En Apa Som Liknar Dig2. I Can’t Get You Off My Mind3. Stockholm4. Seven Days A Week5. Astrologen6. Magdalena (Livet Före Döden)Highly Recommended!

Worth it!
I enjoyed the first CD better. Hopefully, the new CD will be more like his earlier works. Nobody Knows is such a good song!

One of the best
One of the best pop albums being released this year. With Darin's shy persona this record actually tramsform him into a man ready to face the world. The world should hear and listen to him.
