The supplied bolts kind of ruin it....
I really wanted to like this backplate right out of the box. It’s machined nicely, included thermal pads and hardware. And the hardware is what keeps this from being a 5 star review. The hardware blows... a nice backplate with shit bolts gives you an okay backplate. 4 of the 10 included m2.5 installation screws broke in the threads as I was installing the backplate. No I wasn’t crossthreading them.I ended up dismantling the entire card, drilling out all the broken studs and remaining mounting locations, and re threading them to m3 bolts. New paste and thermal pads and the installation went great. Especially with hardware that actually is made out of metal.Seriously the metal the supplied screws are made out of is so soft, it almost would make you think they were aluminum. I don’t have to tell you how bad the review would have been if those broken bolts has cost me a graphics card in this consumer climate right now.I may pick up another one of these if I can find another maxwell titan x for the right price. If you are going to get one of these, buy some real m2.5 black button head Allen bolts, or do what I did and disassemble the card and modify the mounting locations to accept m3 hardware as it’s way more robust.
