Arrived on time
Excellent shoe, I have broken my small toe and have a stress fracture along the side of my foot which was really bothering me. This shoe is great, I tighten it to hold my foot firm, it took a few days to get used to, but it is so light and the square toe gives lots of room, so ut doesn't touch the bad toe.

toe of shoe very square and wide
square toe makes for awkward walking

Easy to use and sturdy
My wife broke her toe a few days before going on holiday and found it impossible to put on a shoe, she opted to buy this to aid her recovery. She found it very easy to use and the fact that it's oversized compared to a shoe made it easier to put on, the velcro straps also meant she didn't have to push her don't into it but instead she could wrap the straps around her foot instead, the sturdy sole made it easy to walk in too, reason for losing 1 star is that I feel it's a little pricey for what it is but they were all around the same price so not a lot you can do!

Not for fifth metatarsal fractures
I fractured my fifth metatarsal and found the boot I'd been given in a&e was too heavy/ awkward/ uncomfortable so needed something with a stiff sole that gave my ankle flexibility. 3 weeks after the injury I bought this for around the house and short walks. Initially it caused a bit of pinching pain at the injury site. Unlike the fracture boot there isn't an inner sock so I added a soft insole and wore a thick sock which stopped the pain. However when walking around outside in it I found my hips/shins/knees and lower back hurt far more than they do in the heavy fracture boot. It also offers no side protection and the foot is not as immobilised as it is in the fracture boot, which can be painful early on in recovery. So this has been relegated to a useful house fracture slipper!! The good- easy and quick to get on and off, well constructed and covers the toe area for warmth. Stiff sole. Subtle. Light. Definitely useful as an addition to the boot. However my fracture clinic have subsequently advised that this is the wrong type of shoe for a metatarsal or front foot fracture as you need a 'rocking' style shoe that takes the initial impact and weight of walking on the heal instead. Darco do make these, they're called an ortho wedge. So really good shoe but maybe not for metatarsal fractures.

The solution for some
Purchased these boots for an elderly relative whose feet are swollen and are padded and bandaged. Normal shoes and slippers do not fit. The boots enable him to attend medical appointments but his mobility is poor and he shuffles his feet. Consequently the boots present a trip hazard. In addition fastening the velcro straps can be tricky. For someone younger or with better mobility the boots may be ideal.

Not sturdy for broken toe
I broke my big toe and got this as the hospital gave me a knee high boot which was heavy.I’m sure this is fine for other foot issues but for a broken toe it wasn’t supportive enough.
