Midwest Products Mosaic Turtle Stepping Stone Kit

This takes 2 days to make, so be prepared for that reality! 1st part has to dry for a day before you complete the design.Bought 3, for my twin 9yr olds and my 10yr old niece, to make for Father's Day.(Older children could have done this alone, but mine needed a little help.)Don't forget to coat the plastic mold with cooking oil to ensure an easy release when the stone is dry-one of the oil sprays is the easiest. We forgot to do that with 2 of these, but remembered early on, so we scraped the wet clay back out of the molds, cleaned it and oiled it, then refilled it with the wet mixture. As a result, these stepping stores came out with a better, smoother texture, presumably because the wet clay/cement got mixed up more and released more air bubbles. So mix well, and really shake those bubbles out.

Such a great kit! Only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the glue was completely dried out and does not specify what kind to use. Be sure to read instructions carefully. I didn’t keep our 1/4 cup of the cement mix like you’re supposed to. I also didn’t add the colored powder to the cement mix beforehand. Hopefully if you read this you won’t make the same mistake. Fast shipping. Would recommend!

We had so much fun making this! My daughter enjoyed mixing it and decorating it. This is quite messy, and definitely not an indoor project. You will need a sturdy paint stirrer (not included) to mix this properly. Please note that you will have to wait for this to dry adequately before decorating. We didn't have any issues with unmolding, the turtle came out perfect. My daughter had a really good time decorating this with the jewels & stones that are included. This turtle has been outside now in an unprotected area of my flower garden for quite some time. I am happy to say it has held up great, and none of the stones have came loose. Overall, this is a great outdoor project for a sunny day.

My granddaughter loves crafts. I thought she would enjoy this turtle. It seems to be leaking sand before it has been opened.

This craft takes 2-3 days to complete, most of it being waiting for the mold to solidify before proceeding to the next step. But once you do reach the end, it is a very nice piece to add to your backyard or garden. You'll be given lots of gems to decorate the top of the shell with, so don't worry about not having enough.Without adult supervision, I would recommend this for children 10yrs and up.

i love this. this is the 5th one of these i've bought because i loooove turtles, and i make them with my kids. the feet have a tendency to break off, but i think that's because little hands are impatient to put their new stone in the garden, so make SURE your turtle has a 24 hour cure in LOW HUMIDITY (ie; not when it's raining) before putting it into your garden. and if you're REALLY picky, glue the gems onto the eyes, don't trust the cement to hold them on. learned that the hard way.

Love making these steeping stones for the backyard. You can reuse the mold so I just got more tile and color and made a couple. Fun to make for any age.

I ordered this product about a week ago. When I recieved the package, it was the wrong one. the outside address was mine, but the one on the slip was another persons address along with their order. I called customer service and they were very helpful.
