LET'S RESIN Silicone Mold Making Kit-Translucent Silicone Rubber 20oz

This review will be edited time to time for updates! (UPDATE) Still a great silicone product for beginners! I made a second mold and made things in my first mold to compare them to their originals. I will be attaching another photo. Left is originals, right is copies from being in the mold(besides the cookies, I accidentally switched those.) I will upload a pic of my second mold as well! I am going to be switching to another molding product soon as I feel I want a tougher silicone but this was so fun to work with and such an inexpensive option for those who just want to make a few things on hand for back up pieces. My second mold's silicone was mixed more thoroughly than my first and cured much faster. The first mold took about 3 days to not be sticky because I didn't stir very well. make sure if you're using tape on the bottom when pouring and make sure you are taping very FLAT and fold the edges upward around your container because even with hot glue you can get leaks! 1st Impressions: LOVE! Very easy to work with, mixes easily and adding a little mica powder for some fun color was NO problem. I only had to wait 3-4 hours to take it out but I'd suggest you wait the entire 24. I think I may have ripped a teeny part on accident pulling it up out of impatience. I am attaching a photo of my mold. I needed extras of pieces I use for personal use. You can never have too many cabochons! I will come back and post pics of pieces made in the mold and update with how the mold did! Sorry the designs are so hard to see in the photo, the mica powder is pearlized. BY THE WAY: I had 1 TEENY bubble and I checked my piece to make sure it wasn't the issue but it may have been because it was slightly not flat in the area it bubbled. Nothing a quick glaze or dome can't fix. The silicone seems strong but I am still waiting to use it as it has only been 12 hours and I want to make sure I don't ruin it. If your mold is still sticky in ANY spots either you did not mix properly or you need to let it cure a LOT more.

This is incredible! Super easy to use, easy to mix, but make sure you mix it for about 3-5 minutes depending on how much you need and keep tapping the bottom to draw up air bubbles. If there was a way to approximate the amount of product (maybe like a visual example of sizes to volume) it’d be the best product out there. But I’m making molds of items left and right so I’ll definitely be purchasing this over and over. Don’t sleep on it!

It works very well but if you’re using this for casting make sure that the piece you’re casting does not have any reactive paint or resin on it. The silicone will not cure if that is the case

I mixed and poured this in my basement which was at about 60 degrees Fahrenheit and probably relatively high humidity. An hour later it was still liquid and had not cured. I set my oven to dehydrate which is a 170 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the oven warmed up, I turned the oven off and placed the still liquid mold into the oven for several hours. There it hardened up and cured nicely.

I was in the middle of a time-sensitive commissioned piece and the low-quality silicone I had failed on me with inhibition issues. Was in a panic so ordered this with the 3-hour delivery option and was able to complete the job. I've used Let's Resin products before so figured it was a safe bet, and I was right - the silicone cured quickly and perfectly. Instructions say to mix it for 3-5 minutes but out of paranoia I always mix my silicone for 6 or 7 to ensure both parts are fully incorporated. Mixed inside an HDPE container as it's chemically inert, won't cause silicone inhibition. My setup was basic - a common brand "can of stacking potato chips" as the mold box (cleaned & scrubbed first) then the plaster piece in the middle. I always do all my pours from 2 feet off the mold in a very thin stream. This seemed to degas by itself perfectly without any bubbles. Starting temp: 77F at 4 PM, by 8 PM it was around 69F outside. By 12AM it was 60 degrees. Humidity ~75%. Just to give an idea of atmosphere vs curing time. It cured much quicker than I thought - I could touch the mold and it was firm in around an hour with no tackiness or residue, but I let it go 8 just in case. Resulting mold is firm with perfect curing, no stickiness / inhibition whatsoever. Since it's platinum cure and my piece wasn't porous there was no mold release needed. I will be buying this brand again, but next time I'm springing for the gallon size as I make molds rather frequently and it ends up being less expensive in t!he long run!

I received this product, dumped the liquid from each bottle into a bowl, stirred for about 4 minutes, then poured the mix into my mold to make a seal for a 36" by 16" case for testing air quality monitors. I waited a day, and the seal that I had poured was still in a liquid state. To my surprise, and the reason the seal was still liquid, is because both bottles contained the same formula. Part A and Part B was exactly the same, so why the solution didn't solidify. I contacted the seller, and have not received any response from them, so I cannot recommend this product to anyone without saying that Please make sure that both bottles contain the appropriate liquid before mixing, and wasting your time. It is taking me a number of days trying to drain and clean out my mold so that I can do another pour with a different product from someone else. This goes to quality control, and obviously there is none, and also the customer support is definitely not there either, so buy at your own risk... Update: I would like to say a big thank you to the seller, as they finally contacted me, and ultimately corrected the problem by sending out a set of correctly labeled bottles. The seller went above and beyond to resolve the issue I had with getting a messed up order. Just PLEASE, be very careful when getting yours, that you first do a small test mix to make sure you don't have the frustration I had. Both A and B parts look exactly the same, so when I received miss-labeled bottles, I couldn't tell before mixing that it was not going to set up before creating a huge mess for myself - that took 3 days to get cleaned up before making a new pour with a set of properly labeled bottles of silicone. I wanted to do the right thing by updating my experience with the sellers' help and support, and also why I changed the 1 star to 5, because when it works - it works great, so just be careful to do a small test mix before doing a major pour like I did, because whatever hair you have left - you want to keep LOL.

I wanted to replicate a mold that I already own. I wanted multiple copies of the same item so I can hopefully use them for candle making. I was definitely successful in creating a mold with this. The instructions were easy to follow. I filled my original mold with hot glue and made a bunch of copies of the cactus. I then built mold cavities. One out of legos from dollar tree and one from cookie cutters. I took contact paper and put it upside down and placed the mold walls on that and applied hot glue in order to hold it down and make sure there was no leakage. I measured on a scale part an and part b. There was a ton of bubbles and that made me really nervous! However in my finished product i barely saw any bubbles. I sat there and babysat this for at least a half hour blowing through a straw at any big bubbles I saw . I messed up on the bigger mold in my pics by not gluing down the items and instead trusting that dollar tree contact paper was strong enough to hold them down! A few of my cactuses floated to the surface and will now forever be entombed in silicone! I still got a few viable mold cavities. After the first half of the bottles were gone I decided to go ahead and try a second time. This time was a disaster! Once the bottle is half empty is is damn near impossible to get part B to come out of the bottle! The bottles are hard and don’t squeeze so you have to sit there waiting for it to slowly drip out! My scale turned off several times in the process which made things even more difficult! Part B should come in a tub or squeeze tube! Eventually I went into my garage and sawed off the top of the bottle so I could get a spatula in there and scrape it out! I even tried warming the bottles like you do with a baby bottle to get it to liquify more but that didn’t do much. It did help reduce some of the bubbles but it didn’t help part B move out of the bottle. I think possible storing the bottles upside down may help with getting the remaining few ounces out but I highly suggest they change the packaging somehow. Maybe put part b in a tub so that you can get it out easier. The more fussing you do with the stuff the more bubbles you introduce. The molds came out pretty good though and I even tried one with hot glue and it worked quite well. I would love to buy more and try more but not if they don’t somehow change the packaging. This is almost a waste because it’s so hard to get the remaining few ounces out of the bottle! UPDATE: I emailed let’s resin to ask them what I can do to get rid of the sticky residue that was left over on the top and bottom surface of the mold. At first they tried to insinuate I somehow didn’t measure and/or mix it properly and so I provided them with a video of me making my molds. Once they saw the video they then sent me an email telling me that it’s because I used “hot melt glue” as a master mold. They sent along part of their instructions where it does say that there could be potential curing issues with the “hot melt glue”. I don’t see how that is possible. The glue was fully cured and hardened for over 24 hours before I used it. In the instructions it says that the part that comes in contact with the “contaminate” may not cure properly. In my case, that is the ONLY part of the mold that actually cured properly! The mold functions properly. I’ve used it to cast already. It’s just the entire rest of the mold is tacky, causing hair and dust to stick to it. I would love one of their chemists to explain how cured hot glue will effect parts of the silicone mold that it didn’t even come in contact with such as the bottom, top and side surfaces of the mold! Sounds like a bunch of BS if you ask me and a company that just doesn’t want to take responsibility for perhaps a bad batch of silicone. I see other reviews here saying the same thing about the sticky residue and they did not use “hot melt glue” for their master mold. I mean right in the instructions that they sent to me and highlighted it says that the parts that come in contact with the substance that is supposedly a contaminate, is the part that wouldn’t cure right, so how is it that the rest of the mold is sticky? Makes no sense at all! They seem to be doing all they can to avoid having to replace items! I wasn’t even asking them for a replacement! I was just asking if there’s a way to get rid of the sticky residue! I emailed different resin company about an issue I had with their product and that time it was MY error and they replaced the bottles for me for free without me even asking! That’s a company that does right by their customers. This company is trying to avoid fault at all costs! Just be wary! If you ask questions they will do whatever they can to avoid blame and make it your fault, even if it doesn’t make sense!! As you can see in my photos, the casted part that actually came in contact with the cured “hot melt glue” came out perfectly fine. It is the entire rest of the mold that’s slightly tacky.

La verdad es que está silicona me ha salvado. No encontraba ninguna compatible con mis modelos 3D de resina. Pero está funcionando perfectamente. Por poner una pega, se me hace pequeño el bote y se me agota enseguida. Pero vale la pena por su calidad.

This silicone is super nice to work with and I love the texture of it. However, I can't get it to cure properly. I'll give it another go to see if I can find what the issue is, but for now, I'm not sure if I would recommend this product. (Edit 2022-10-16) I've figured out the reason my silicone won't cure, and that was because of the type of pigment I used get the colours messed it up for me.
