Flavor:Gunpowder Green  |  Size:16 Ounce (Pack of 2) Ages before the birth of humanity, when ice still covered the earth, a family of high-mountain Camellia plants thrived. From these, the tea bush traces its noble lineage. Our whole leaf Temple of Heaven - Gunpowder Green Tea is gently steamed within hours of being plucked, then skillfully hand rolled into small tight pearls. This process preserves its delicate flavor and aroma far longer than other green teas. Steeped in hot water, the leaves unfurl, releasing a well-rounded, full-bodied flavor. Rich in fluoride, calcium, and anti-oxidants - and with very little caffeine - this is a perfect choice to greet the evening. Organic, and with soil.
I've been drinking brewed loose leaf tea for over ten years and this is the first ever to contain actual dirt/soil. It's expected to have small particulates accumulate along the bottom of your teapot after brewing. But I've noticed (and tasted) that most particulates (> ~90%)are pieces of soil and not tea. With Numi Organic Gunpowder Green Tea, It's pretty brutal slugging the final sip of tea into your mouth, and most troubling is that this is usually the absolute best gulp because it contains all the real tea leaf pieces.I'm disappointed with this tea. This is my first time buying an organic tea. Does anyone know if dirt is common in organic teas?

Sticks and stems with break my tea
I was satisfied with this product till last package. The quality of this tea went down to the point that I requested a refund. My last package had stems and twigs in it! The taste was off also. I'm ending my subscription of this tea it was so poor.

Not worth even for this low price. Move on.
This review refers to 'Numi Organic Tea Gunpowder Green'. I am new to Green Tea. This is the third variety of green tea bag I ordered from Amazon in the past 3 months. The reason I ordered this is the price is attractive relative to the other two I ordered. I wanted to find a tea that I can enjoy daily without feeling the price pinch. Unfortunately this tea is not it. I choose to return after the first brew. There is soil like sediment in the brewed tea that I didn't find in the the other two. This is not full leaf tea either as is claimed on the website. A lot of twigs and broken leafs with very few full leafs. I don't find this tea as flavorful as the other two. So I returned it and I am moving on to find another one. Please reply to this if you found a reasonable cost green tea (loose leaf) that is also good quality on Amazon.

Longtime Teavana customer converted to NUMI!
My favorite tea is Jasmine pearls, it has an uplfting, calming and relaxing effect with just enough caffeine to give me some pep in my step with no jitters! I was buying jasmine pearls from Teavana but very seldom since the cost was way more then I could afford. In substitution I was drinking loose leaf Jasmine but it's just no where as good as the pearls so I wasn't really enjoying loose leaf Jasmine. I wasn't getting the same effect!!! Honestly the pearls really make me feel good!!!. I discovered Numi's jasmine pearls tastes just as good and is just as fragrant as Teavana and even better NUMI is ORGANIC unlike Teavana which isn't and the cost of Teavana tea is outrageous!!!!!!!Now I can have my favorite tea EVERY morning. If you are not a true lover of Jasmine then this tea may not be for you since you will feel and smell the true essence and armoa of Jasmine with every sip. And for those of you who are not experienced with brewing green tea pearls you do need something large enough to let the leaves open fully (don't use a tea ball) and PLEASE don't burn the leaves!!!! The water should be turned off as soon as it starts to bubble and then poured over the pearls. I use 2 &1\2 teaspoons for 16ozs. I've found 3 minutes is perfect amount of time to steep. If you over steep the tea can become bitter tasting. Oh yeah and the scent of Jasmine is known to have a uplifting and anti depressant effect! As a mother of 2 year old twins this tea helps me keep my sanity everyday!!!! FYI I do use the 32oz perfectea maker by Teavana to brew my Jasmine pearls, it's large enough to let the leaves unfurl fully. I stress: a tea ball or a mesh cup strainer wouldn't be good to use with pearls. You could put the leaves in a pot of water after it has come to boil and then strain with a fine mesh strainer if you don't want to invest in this Teavana perfectea maker but I highly recommend it for steeping loose leaf tea!!!!! The Teavana perfectea is available in a 16oz or 32oz size. This link is for the 16oz version: https://www.amazon.com/Black-Teavana-Perfectea-Maker-16oz/dp/B004X7DIHI/ref=sr_1_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1473697231&sr=1-1&keywords=tea+makerGreat product, Don't just take my word though, you'll see it's the #1 seller in teapot category on Amazon.

Ti Kuan Yin ~Yes, Oolong ~ No
My latest Numi experience is with this whole leaf Ti Kuan Yin Oolong tea. Unlike my past experiences with Numi which are all positive....this time I will have to give it a rather negative review I‘m afraid. First thing first, the tea itself is good quality, its a pretty decent Ti Kuan Yin “Green tea” alone. However Numi markets this as “Oolong tea” , a good Ti Kuan Yin “Green tea” no matter how good it is, it still isn’t “Oolong tea” at all. An Oolong tea has to be roasted or sun treated in respect of its own teafarm recipes, green tea in the contrast is not Oolong tea in definition. The Numi Ti Kuan Yin tastes n colors exactly like green tea but not the usual “darker n deeper” Oolong tea, most likely Numi has sourced some still “green” Ti Kuan Yin for this blend. However after some quick researches over Amazon, most USA tea brands do this regardless Oolong naming on unroasted / under treated Ti Kuan Yin green tea...so I guess its only me being picky here. Bottle line is..... these are some good Ti Kuan Yin green tea, but sadly not Oolong tea.

So disappointed. Giving 3 stars for the good value of ...
So disappointed. Giving 3 stars for the good value of a pound of tea for $39.99, saw fairly high reviews and impulsively purchased. I normally buy Rishi Brand Jasmine Green Tea Pearls, which has a lighter, more floral jasmine flavor. The jasmine comes through more in the loose, unbrewed Numi than it does in the brewed tea. I steeped approximately 1 tablespoon (more than I normally would) in 195 degree water for 3 minutes. The flavor is very flat and cardboard like for a loose tea, especially jasmine. It tastes like it's been steeped from a bagged tea which transfers a paper like flavor from the tea bag. If you like this tea, it's a great value, but I don't prefer this jasmine tea.
