Good parts

Great service and good alternator. Would like to see options for products made in the USA. Would pay more for them, every time.Contrary to what has been said on the internet, the alternator begins charging at idle speeds.

My original optimax 225 alternators were getting weak, only getting 12-12.5v at idle and 11.8v at wide open. I have twins, so two of these, never installed a marine alternator before, but just as easy as doing a car, remove the oil pump pulley, 2 bolts for alternator, and the plug in connects and 1 hot wire nut, and swap. Spent about 1 hour to do both. For $200 VS marine mechanic quoted $1000 (parts and labor), saved $800, and now both motors running at 13.9v, Perfect! As long as last a couple years or more I'll be happy. Will update review if any issues arise.UPDATE : 6 months later, these are also weak. Replacing now with Mercury brand units. Significantly more money, but better than having to do this every few months. Recommend you avoid these.
