As soon as I got this handy little tool, I looked it over ~ and was wondering about the partial plastic construction and the seemingly off-center mounted whetstone wheel. As I continued to look it over, I saw that the plastic was fairly sturdy and thick. Also I could see that the off-center mounted whetstone wheel had to be intentional. I figured that [maybe] the whole set-up was to ensure effective sheering angles for smooth but certain sharpening ~ of many kinds of blades. So, I tried several different knives out on it ~ short, stubby and thick, long and hefty and long and thin. Well, this efficient sharpener was great for each ~ one even having some rough blade notches to deal with ~ that were smoothed mostly away to be back in line with the whole large knife blade. Especially via that *test*, I could see that this sharpener is especially good at the vibration-feedback of the quick sawing of the blade held in the V-slot of the sharpener ~ to keep the whetting in-line as long as you keep your strokes in-line ~ which is aided greatly by the diagonal angles encountered by the sawing blade and especially the stability of the holding grip and its non-slip *feet*. This surface-braced sharpener is easy to use as compared to an older style hand-held sharpener ~ the smoothly buffing special diagonal angles are built-into this modern sharpener ~ and it is almost as quick as an electric-spinning whetstone wheel one and has to be the safest type via surface-bracing, V blade-slot and you being the power-source.
