People in life fail to realize that not all storylines need to be in black and white or perfect in its content or even excellent in its script . Everything in life has flaws . When anyone looks at a movie whether it is an english or indian movie you have to first appreciate the plot and understand the acting as well as the effort that was put into making each line in the film . Most people comment if it is bad or BS or good because they do not quite grasp the actual film in detail . In my opinion this movie will always be number one . I have never loved a movie in my life as much as I loved this movie . What a beautiful movie always , truly old is gold always . Great and excellent acting by Rishi , Sridevi and Vinod as well as Waheeda R. Omg Yash ji made love movies in the old days with pure love and a great script with lots of soul . I miss all of them so much , they have all gone and they left this earth too soon but their memory and presence are clearly left behind in our hearts forever . Yash Raj Banner has lost their way to make amazing and meaningful movies like they use too . I wish yash raj would make a lovely movie again and choose Sridevi's daughter with Rishi's son , the movie will do great with a great storyline . Anyway I loved this movie with all my heart . Thank you

I love Sridevi and this is one of her best works. It's so sad that all four (Sri, Rishi, Vinod, and Yash) have passed away. But they left behind a gem of a film!

The early portion is poorly scripted but in the later half, some sequences represent Bollywood at its best. But the title song is as cringe-worthy as ever. ;)

l love this movie, even though it's old. It's still a really good movie and been looking for this movie, but haven't made it to Indiatown in Chicago to buy it. So the next best thing is Amazon and bam! Found it....love love love!

Note: Hindi with English subtitles.From what I've read and heard about Yash Chopra's cinematic romance `Chandni' it appears to be a rather popular film. In some instances even referred to as a classic. So it's easy to understand why I had high expectations going into viewing this tale about a young woman, Chandni (Sridevi) who must ultimately choose between two eligible suitors, Rohit (Rishi Kapoor) and Lalit (Vinod Khanna).The first half of the film deals with an almost childlike first love between naïve Chandni and the impetuous Rohit. For my personal tastes this part of the movie was much too silly and I came close to turning off the DVD player several times. Fortunately things got much more interesting when Chandni and Rohit parted ways and Lalit was introduced into the film. The storyline had now moved past the immature antics that dominated earlier and much more adult motives and actions came into play. Now there were emotions and strong feelings to be dealt with and relationships to be explored. Romance was still the central focus but now a much needed depth had been added that made the second half enjoyable.What bothered me the most was the immense crowds of curious on-lookers watching the filming of any scene shot out in public. Whether on the streets, at a park, in a restaurant or at the airport you can't help but notice the multitude of people lining the actor's pathway or staring through windows to see what's going on. It's not only disconcerting, but it looks absolutely ridiculous.To be fair I have to admit that I've been spoiled by the cinematic excellence on display in much more recent releases such as `Kabhi Khushie Kabhie Gham' (2001), `Lagaan'(2001) and `Pinjar' (2003). `Chandhi' on the other hand was released in 1989 so there is a high degree of difference in production values which is to be expected.To end on a more positive note, I found Sridevi to be utterly charming, she reminds me quite a bit of Kajol. I also find myself becoming a Vinod Khanna fan. He exudes a strength and vulnerability that is both likable and accessible.

SPLENDID. This is indeed a splendid movie.Svelte Sridevi displayed brilliant emotions to portray Chandni who is torn between the love of two handsome men.Vinod Khanna acts in a superb role that reminds the viewer about the extraordinary glamour of the first hunk of Hindi cinema.Rishi Kapoor is good and Yash Chopra is greater.Chandni remains a favourite for me as it brings back the nostalgis memories of my teen age years , when there was no mobile phone or satellite television channels. The movie was released in 1989 and was impressive in it's Box Office performance.The Blu ray transfer is very good, although the audio needs improvement.However, overall it is indeed Splendid. THANKS AMAZON.

Sri Devi is fantastic in this classic hindi movie. Many nice songs.
