After having yet another swing arm, screw-in bulb (LED, but still) lamp provide aggravation for years and then finally break, I gave the current products a solid look-through. I settled on this lamp because it was confirmed in the reviews and questions to rotate at the base, hold its position very well, and provide great light. Well, I can confirm that all of that was correct and then some! This lamp feels solid, it is incredibly sleek, it holds its position exactly where you put it, and it provides enough light all by itself to brighten any work space. The on/off control is truly touch-sensitive. Just the slightest touch turns it on or off. Working the fancier controls for dimming and light color were extremely easy since I was used to a ceiling fan remote doing the same thing. The light bar that swivels on the horizontal axis is awesome! You can easily lower the light to sit in front of you and turn it on a work piece for max visibility, or raise it up and swivel away for general lighting. As you can see with the photo of my daughter's art and sewing corner, it does a great job. And the pads on both top and bottom parts of the clamp securely hold the light to a smooth-surface desk or table (it would be perfect even on granite). I also have to mention the exceptional packaging. It is thin, light, and easily reusable since there is no assembly of the light needed. I am saving the box if I ever have to move or store the light. I am extremely impressed with the entire engineering effort that went into this light. No more collapsing metal-arm giant screw-in bulb desk lamps!

After receiving the lamp and trying it out in my workspace, I'm very happy with the quality, price, and utility of this product!The functions and maneuverability of the lamp are easy to understand and offer a ton of options to use it however is most convenient for you. I found the clamping mechanism to feel easy to use and adjust while maintaining a tight grip on my desk surface to ensure the lamp didn't budge. The quality of the light itself is great for small work spaces - the light is targeted downward and the lamp can be adjusted to many different angles, allowing for bright work space without any unwanted light shooting up into your eyes while you work. The ability to control the bright/dim and warm/cool nature of the light is also very welcome depending on how much light you have elsewhere in the room / need for your task.I like to build and paint miniatures (like Games Workshop), and I purchased this lamp to attach as a semi-permanent fixture to my desk since I also use the same space for my computer. It's great to have the lamp clamped to the side of the desk and within arms reach to just swivel over and position however I like when I'm ready to dig into my hobby - it definitely saves me space without sacrificing utility or quality!

I had to add another audio component to my desktop surface which meant taking away the green-shaded banker's lamp I bought here a couple years ago and moving it to my bedside table. I looked at a lot of different desk lamp designs here before choosing this one and I'm very pleased with the design and build of the product. It's slim and unobtrusive so I could mount it on the back edge of my desktop behind my power amp and backup drives and still easily reach the switch. Seems sturdy and well-built, not likely to move as long as the clamp is tightly locked down to hold a strong grip with the rubber pads. It has a pretty good reach and the head turns to point wherever I want the light to go. I wish it had another joint so I could move the head in two different planes of motion, but it's not a big deal. The two switches have a red pilot light that illuminates when the lamp is off so it's pretty easy to find the switch in the dark when turning the lamp on. The range of brightness and the range of warm yellow to cool blue-white are both very effective, so I can adjust the light to illuminate a bright work space or provide a gentle warm glow for relaxing and listening to music. I expect this lamp will be serving me well for years to come since it seems very well made. Highly recommended.

I am a writer and genealogist who works on my computer all hours of the day and night and need really good lighting. I have macular degeneration so regular lighting is not often good enough. I needed bright lighting that was closer (rather than overhead or side lamps) that did a better job of illuminating my desk and work areas overall. This does the trick. Though the light isn't quite as bright as hoped, it is still very effective and helps avoid areas in shadows. It helps avoid eye strain, which is so important to me. The light isn't harsh or glaring, more soft I suppose. It clamps onto my desk very nicely without causing any damage to my desk edge. I love that this lamp is flexible and can easily be pivoted as needed. The remote control is better than I expected and performs well. I like the various light colors and brightness choices also. It appears to be pretty sturdy, compared to others that I considered, and the price was easily affordable. Overall its a very good product that I am pleased to own. My reason for only giving 4 stars rather than 5 is that the lights could be a bit brighter.
