Petmate Chrome Door Replacement for Model 500 Vari-Kennel, X-Large

I am so glad I found this door. After caring for a foster dog with separation anxiety, my very nice crate was no longer secure. The dog bent the old door and broke the latch, trying to escape. He never got out of the crate, but the door was ruined. Thankfully, my crate is as good as new with this door and I didn't have to buy a new one.

Bought this replacement door for one of our 500 crates. Worked great for a while, then top part of the latch broke...just like the previous one did. We're using it in spite of it being a pain to operate and don't put large or hyper dogs in the crate. Doesn't seem like the replacement door for the 500 and the 400 are as heavy as the ones that came on the crates when we bought them years ago.

I bought this as a replacement for a crate door that had rusted (I think friends who had borrowed our crate were storing it outdoors...). It was very easy to install and works well. The only issue we've had is that our anxious dog is able to use his paws and teeth to pop the latch cover off and then works at the bars to break the latch altogether. Fortunately, it was pretty easy to reassemble, and I've since put some duct tape around the latch cover to prevent him from removing it. It works really well with the duct tape on it, and I was thrilled that a replacement door was available! Much cheaper than replacing an entire crate.

I ordered this door as a replacement for door with a non-functioning latch. This latch broke after only 2 weeks of use. First the plastic latch cover fell off...I put it back on several times. Then I found the springs and rods on the floor...the dog was loose. This could be VERY dangerous situation.

We had a very good Vari-Kennel from years ago, but the door was in poor shape, we searched for a replacement locally but none were to be found.....was able to purchase here on line and are very happy with it and the service, most likely will be ordering 2 more!

fit the kennel perfectly and just added years to its use (because what good is a kennel without the door?) I was apprehensive about ordering online but verified my kennel was one this door was designed for and hoped for the best. Exactly as described!

It got here quickly and is what I needed, but the one of the bottom pieces of metal that go into the crate is bent. I will try to bend it out, I will not be shipping it back as that is a hassle. I am glad that they offer these doors though.
