Have a 2002 600 polaris sportsman, quad. saw an upgrade kit on youtube that supposduly takes care of starting issues. what do i need?

Not sure if stator is bad. Engine starts and idles... but wont start or run without choke and has no power/bogs out when i hit gas and backfires
