Outstanding book--you won't want to put it down.
Overall this was an excellent book detailing the largest arson ring to strike Boston, and possibly America. I remember reading about this when I was younger, and this controversy gave the Boston Sparks and fire buffs in general a bad name back then. This book details everything about the ring, the players, what they did, why they did it, while also offering a good insight on the Boston Fire Department. It get's a little long-winded towards the end when the author tries to give a mini biography about each individual investigator, and some parts of the trial were long-winded as well. But overall this is a fascinating book. If you like the Boston Fire Department, fire buffing, or are interested in arson, this book is a must-read. I didn't want to put it down.

It’s an explosively GREAT read!!!!!
One of the most powerful books on true crimes that I’ve ever read! The author does a greAt job seamlessly weaving all the intricate and massive aspects of a labor intensive investigation together like a master conductor with an orchestra. And this master conducting author is the actual retired ATF special agent that led the manhunt for these firebugs which covers the three-year investigation with intensively mounting suspense as it chronicles the heroic firefighters risking life and limb battling fire after fire, as multiple blazes keep popping up one after another In a single night, and night after night in an organized burning criminal syndicate that’s as bizarre as it is dangerous - it’s an explosive read. You’ll love it!!!!!

Great details of what was going on behind the headlines
(using my wife's account) Very descriptive accounts of, not only the fires themselves, but also the inner workings and thought processes of the arsonists. When this arson ring was in action I was a firefighter in central mass. I was present at the fire in Fitchburg Mass. I was on the roof of a triple decker at one fire and I could see two other fires burning. I had heard some rumors about this particular fire but had no idea what really took place until I read this book.

Like new condition, hard to read
This story needs a better writing treatment than this. This book seemed to just tell the repetitive facts and not build any connection with the players. I realize its a true story, but all the names and multiple fires had no connection with me. I felt i was just reading a final report. The 2 stars is simply because it arrived as expected promptly

I couldn't put it down
Great book, the depth of research and the close proximity to the major players on both sides of this deadly cat and mouse game make this a must read. It reads like a book of fiction, which makes the fact that this all really happened completely mind boggling. Great book..

An interesting tale of some very troubled people
I found this book to be very well written and gave an interesting insight into the investigation of these pathetic excuses for human beings. I was a bit turned off by the Authors comments about the Presidental Investigation and Muller. I believe that everyone has a right to an opinion, it just does not belong in a book about a totally unrelated incident.Overall a great read and I would reccomend it to anyone with an interest in true crime books

A Deep Dive into Boston Fire History
As someone with an interest in the fire service, and of the Boston Fire Department in particular, I had always wondered what it was like during the years of this arson spree. This book gives a fantastic look into the minds of those on both sides of the story: the perpetrators who crisscrossed the city, looking for buildings to burn, and the lawmen who focused on not only finding out who was responsible for the fires, but how to make a case that would put them behind bars. I learned so much and would recommend this book to anyone who likes Boston history, the fire service, or true crime books.

Do not buy this book as a Kindle version!
I bought this a Kindle book. So far I have read 11% of the book and had at least 10 black blank pages! Some of which have to have had text. So the read is choppy. I am going to have to buy a hard copy. I want my money back for the Kindle version!!
