The wider end goes to the radiator
So I used this Gates hose on the lower Side of the radiator on a 2004 Sienna with 225k miles. The previous hose was Dayco which leaked after approximately 15k miles by the engine side/thermostat. The Dayco hose replaced the original Toyota hose, which also started to leak. I used the original spring clamps on the upper and lower sides of the hose.You need to be observant when you look at the end of the hose; one end is larger ( in diameter) than the other. The larger side goes to the radiator and you should use the larger clamp on the radiator aside. The smaller side goes towards the engine port, along with the smaller of the two clamps.Someone gave the product three stars because the two ends were not the same size. There is a reason for that. It’s because the radiator port is not the same size as the engine port as I mentioned before. I’m sure the Toyota genuine part at ~$40 is better but this Gates will do fine for the price.

Bought to have for long trip (Peace of mind). Lightweight, easy to store and great to have in an emergency . Would buy again if needed.

the engine side was fine.
fit my 2005 toyota sienna almost perfectly. It seems a bit thicker on the bottom and I had a hard time getting the clamp on. So if you buy this do yourself a favor and get a new hose clamp at least for the the radiator side, the engine side was fine.

Go Gates and Get Home.
Gates is a brand I have come to know and trust. I was please with this product and the quality as compared to OEM.It was thick and heavy as expected while still being easy to install for its intended purpose same as the upper hose.

Appears to be lower quality than Toyota OEM, aftermarket (low-end) quality
I believe that radiator hoses are all about durability, and durability is about quality materials and low chemical impurities. I wanted to buy a Dayton, because the advertiser selling Dayton provides more info, such as mentioning that they are made of EPDM material, and what ASTM spec's it meets or exceeds. A Dayton EPDM Sienna hose was not found on Amazon, but this Gates was. Not so with this Gates hose - none of that info.
