He has not mastered how to use a straw yet, even with those special "squeeze-to-drink" options we purchased. Honestly, I should have known Philips Avent would take the crown, as it is the exact same brand we already use and trust for our daily baby bottles.Here is why this cup completely beat out the competition:The Perfect Middle Ground: I love that the design is not exactly like a baby bottle. He is successfully getting more liquid into his mouth than he would with a traditional bottle nipple, but the drinking concept isn't completely foreign to him like a straw.No Confusing Bite Valves: It avoids the issues we had with other devices on the market where the baby has to awkwardly bite down on the valve just to get liquid out or keep the cup from spilling.Prevents Big Spills: To be fair, it isn't completely 100% leak-proof, but it does an excellent job of preventing major spills. If it completely tips over, some water will come out, but it is definitely way less than a cup without a lid!Super Easy to Wash: Cleaning is a breeze. We have tried a few different kinds of sippy cups but hadn't found one that she liked. She can't quite figure out how to use ones with straws, and she's not quite strong enough to use the types where she needs to bite down on them. But this cup really works for her and she seems to love it!This cup is about the same size as her current bottles so holding onto it isn't an issue. The nipple is soft enough that she is able to operate it with no hassle. She still struggles with getting too much liquid at a time for her to handle, but she is starting to figure it out and she seems to be really enjoying herself. We have started giving her a sippy cup of either formula or water with her dinner every night.The only slight negative (and I do mean slight) is that the bottle does say that it is spill proof which is mostly true. I genuinely thought we’d never be able to get her to take milk in a sippy cup because we’ve tried so many others just to have her scream and refuse. She immediately took to these ones, so if you’re having trouble making the switch I would recommend these over and over. The spout is very soft and doesn’t require your baby to bite down, which I think gives it that bottle feeling. The flow also seems to be moderately fast. The cup is easy for her to hold, even with her 13 month old teeny baby hands.I will say, however, these are NOT leakproof at all.
