Great game
I, like many, am a diehard Gears fan, the original got me into gaming when I was a teen (and also tied me into the Xbox!) so I eagerly looked forward to this, after Judgement being disappointing.I'm not one to write reviews really, but I'm a little weary of seeing the negative reviews on this. It's a great game, true to its type whilst kicking it up a knotch in the graphics and overall experience department. I especially liked the new weaponry and side missions - I enjoyed upgrading Jack along the way. The combat comes together well in this mixing up hand (which has been developed into something better than before) as well as just out and out good shooter, everything feels much more interactive which I just felt boosted the game's immersement levels.Overall, I love it. Really stayed true to Gears, loved the storyline, collectables and got me itching to sink masses of time into it very quickly (which as a mum of three is not easy!). Great return for Gears, if they continue along this line, I'd love another installment.

Kind of sucks.
Made the mistake of purchasing this for release day since I had recently completed all the previous gears games. I liked 1-3 and thought 4 was ok but ended abruptly. Not to give any spoilers but this also ends abruptly.I didn't like any of the characters and felt they were flat and dull and uninspired. There is also the typical forced woke narrative being pushed heavily but your main character the woman demonstrates all the negative stereotypes of a woman being whiny and annoying and overly confident at the same time...The first level is absolutely massive and really shows what they were trying to pull off with the open world element but the open world element is quite dull and you're just going from point a-b on a sled. There's no random encounters and exploration isn't really much of a reward. After the first world, the open world element becomes smaller and smaller until they don't include any open world element at all on the last levels.I can only suspect they rushed the game so didn't want to work on any other open world parts. Towards the end it feels very rushed and the game actually starts to glitch out more and you encounter more elements which feel like they haven't been polished off. I can only suspect the release was rushed so not as much time was put into the end game as the did at the start (similar to metal gear 5).I never bothered to play online. I put it off and said "I'll try the online over the weekend" but never bothered as I became tired of the game quite quickly.

The worlds messed up cause of people born in 2000
Well it's a game. And it's got a female lead so not annoy the feminists. There blood but I'm not sure if Dracula is that bothered. I seen a deer in it so maybe vegans might be annoyed. I dunno I'm lost in life just now with what's going on. If I spelt anything wrong please dont be a snowflake about it and just ignore.LIKE WE DID IN THE 80S.

Better than the last one but not perfect
I loved Gears 1 - 3. Gear 4 was utter crap and the storyline was really short. I didn't have high hopes for 5 since the franchise changed hands again but I was pleasantly surprised. I just feel this Gears is miles better than the last one. I liked the storyline and general gameplay. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because Del is the worst. I don't see the point of him because he is not helpful at all. Del gets in the way and he doesn't pick you up even when you're next to him.

Nice change of direction... If you choose it
This is a great game, admittedly not as good as the original trilogy, but miles ahead of both Gears 4 and Judgement. You can easily get lost searching for collectibles in the campaign, or just power though and leave them, you’re not forced either way. I found myself just wandering around looking for items, getting distracted by the amazing graphics (they’re not as good as other games of this gen but still look great). There are a couple of instances where you can make choices, although there’s very few, the decisions are big ones. The multiplayer is good, with some solid new maps, weapons and characters. All of the game modes are easy to get into, and run really well, with Escape being a nice new addition. The only gripes are the infrequent crashes (once every 2, 3 hours) and the slightly confusing levelling up system - you earn experience in one place, complete challenges to improve your rank in another, and then have to work stupidly hard to get iron to customise your characters/ weapons. Hopefully they add more options soon too.I wish they’d included Beast too...Overall great game and I’ll continue to play for the foreseeable future!
