Unconventional design, but breath of fresh air! Read this review to better understand!
I’ve been using traditional flaring tools and flaring blocks for over 35 years, but have now switched to this tool exclusively. This design includes a swing-away stop to ensure the tubing is inserted to the exact same depth every time, thus eliminating the guesswork necessary with the old fashioned flaring tool. The dies cover the range of tubing sizes nearly every technician needs (1/4 - 3/4”), even a few metrics thrown in for good measure. The eccentric mechanism looks odd at first and you might even think it was manufactured incorrectly, but after using this tool the first time you’ll understand that by moving the conical point around to start the flare instead of pushing out all the way around, the malleable copper actually flares more smoothly with less potential for separating like can occur with the traditional design. As you approach the end of the flaring process, the point of this tool will end up centered in the tubing and the tool’s clutch will “click”. At this point, give the tool another turn or two before removing your tubing and you’ll find you have just produced a smooth and incredibly even flare every time.Unless your flaring process requires a double flare, you should seriously consider buying this tool and ditching your old one. One consideration though, this tool is engineered to be used with soft copper or aluminum tubing - not steel. The clutch mechanism would be too light to produce the same results with steel tubing.

Excellent tool!
This tool is incredible value! I was skeptical at first due to the low price. But figured it was worth a try. I bought a minisplit with lines that were supposed to be pre-flared. Installed everything and then popped the caps off to connect the lines and the flares were malformed on BOTH lines and BOTH ends. Why even bother with "pre-flared" lines for $200?? I was so pissed, but wasnt going to pull them out to send back for a replacement. I have a bench-mount flare tool which is pro-grade and works on everything. But couldn't get it on the lines after being installed... What to do...? Found this tool and figured its worth a shot.It did take a practice flare on each line to get it right, but then it worked perfect. First fails were due to incorrect deburring and inserting tube too far. Once I learned how to opperate the tube stop and do a better job deburring it worked perfectly. Really nice clutch mechanism which stops the tool when the flare is complete. Blown away with functionality and quality of the flare result.Pro's- Works perfectly- Many dies for all tube sizes metric and standard- Nice plastic case- High quality tube cutter, SHARP- Integrated tube depth-stop- Spring loaded automatic clutch to stop- Magnetic die holders!!! Wish my pro tool had this!Cons- Mechanism looks susceptible to contamination which might build up after much use and cause inconsistent function.- Die holder magnets are glued in and excess glue was built up on die seating surface. Easily removed with a pick before use.- Tube stop needs a little care and/or practice to get correct position with small diameter line. Works fine, just have to do it correctly. The satisfaction of a good tool took away my discontent about the improperly "flared" lines that came with the minisplit install kit. Happy flaring!

Finally an Awesome tool! But got a used one!
I use it for mini split installs as the flares that come with them are almost always bad! I use this with the correct refrigerant oil for the Freon I'm using so the tool lasts! Mine has came used it was not supposed to be it had old cut off flares in the box! But it works well so I am giving it a good review. I would say to the seller might wanna send people a new tool as people may tend to use this and return it! I don't do things like that but anyways mine was used and dirty!

Saved the day several times already
4 stars because it doesn't do 1/4" as well. It tends to over flare by the time the clutch releases. All other sizes attempted worked flawlessly. Just have to stop turning the screw a half turn early for 1/4" flares.Worked perfect for new mini-split HVAC install and to repair 1/2" gas line that started leaking near the water heater.

You won't be sorry.
I bought the $30.00 other brand unit first. Easy to make a mistake on. This one is fool proof. So much easier to use. The individual dies and die alinement to the flare eccentric is faultless. The clamping is simple. Automatically sets the stick out length. Comes with tubing cutter and deburr tool. You can't go wrong. So much easier to use in tight locations too. I can't say enough about it. BUY IT! You won't be sorry.

do not put die in upside down.
When this tool arrived I put in the first die that I planned on using. I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't go in. Then i noticed that I had it upside down. As I was removing it, it slipped from my fingers and fell neatly into place. I took an hour to pry it back out. The flares it produces come out lopsided. but, I'm thinking it was sprung while trying to remove the inverted die. I'm replacing it with an identical item and will update after testing.
