The one star is awarded because there are brief explanations provided for the answers. In all other respects this product does not meet its purpose for me. The texts are too long to be equivalent to GL, and the font is too small at just over 1mm. They have obviously had to use a tiny font to fit in the excessively long texts. Also the texts are all 19th century literature: The Count of Monte Cristo, White Fang (ok this is early 20th C), Around the World in 80 Days, and 20,000 Leagues under the Sea. None of the GL series uses classic literature. I cannot speak for independent schools or highly gifted children, but for a normally bright, mainstream educated ten year old, these are inaccessible and I won't risk damaging his confidence with them.

I agree with the review from Lisav. The texts in this book are extracts from classics and not truly representative of a GL 11+. I don't recommend this book because it could damage a child's confidence. Very disappointed.
