No Rules for Michael Review: Great book for 4-5 year olds ready to start kindergarten. - Very simple book. We used it to enforce why rules matter with our 5-year-old. School rules, versus rules at home versus Grandma rules are all different. It's a learning process!- Review: Great Book - Fantastic book, my daughter loves it!

GREAT Way to Teach Kids About the Importance of Rules
"NO Rules for Michael" is a great way to teach kids about the importance of rules. The book begins with a picture of a teacher reading a story about the Ten Commandments to preschool children. After learning about a few of the important classroom rules, such as sharing and no hitting, Michael suggests that the preschool children should not have to follow any rules. The teacher agrees to test this suggestion for a short time. Needless to say, Michael and the rest of the class soon decide that they don't like tripping over backpacks, not taking turns, and having other classmates steal their food. The pictures in the book are simple and describe each scene. I liked, though, the way that the book presented to children in an easy-to-understand way how their lives would change if their were not any rules and that some rules can be beneficial for all.

No Rules - Prek book - Jewish
No Rules for Michael is a great book to learn about sharing, rules and friends. It is a book about a Jewish child in a Jewish classroom, but it isn't so Jewish that it would be inappropriate for a classroom of children learning to share. Someone told me this was a good Yom Kippur book. I disagree with that as it really isn't about saying I'm sorry and asking for forgiveness.

IB resource
Using this to help establish essential agreements during the first couple of days of school. It is important that all students agree to abide by set procedures for the classroom to function successfully.
