Organic Rice Protein wih Pleasant Vanilla Flavor
I've been using Nutribiotic Organic Rice Protein for decades. I much prefer the Vanilla flavor and like to buy it in the large more economical 3lb container, so am happy it's available on Amazon through a Marketplace Seller at a decent price. I've bought the Plain variety by mistake, and although you can add vanilla, fruit or other flavoring to it, it retains a slightly odd flavor. I therefore strongly recommend purchasing the Vanilla variety which provides the easy option of using it just as it is. My standard morning shake is a heaping 2 TBS scoop of the protein + 2 TBS of a fiber supplement (a ground psyllium and apple fiber mix) + 1 TBS of organic ground flax seed with a little liquid stevia and a little organic raw blue agave syrup to sweeten mixed with 2 cups of water using an immersion blender in a wide-mouth plastic container that came with my first blender. (To avoid spills, blend initially with just part of the water, then add the rest when just a brief blend is required.) The Agave syrup seems to add a slight almost chocolate flavor. I occasionally add frozen mango pieces, but mostly don't. It definitely provides a good protein- and fiber-rich start to the day.

Bad batch, but re-ordered and new shipment OK
I've been using this for four years, and it's been great in my smoothies. I placed an order a couple of weeks ago (the last order was mid-2017) and there was something odd with the shipment. It had the plastic outer seal but didn't have an inner seal, the color was lighter than the old product (I still had some left and could compare), and the smell was bad. Strong chemical smell, rancid smelling as others have said. I still tried it in a smoothie and the taste was terrible and it was undrinkable. I threw the whole jar away - I worried that it had been tampered with. Then I looked at recent Amazon reviews and see that it must have been a bad batch as others had the same experience.I contacted Amazon and they were nice enough to refund me for the order. Then I re-ordered the product, making sure to order from a different seller than my last order - thinking this would increase my odds of getting a different batch. I received the new order today and it's fine - same color, no smell - the same product I'm used to. So it's not a formula change (the expiration date in 2021, similar to the last batch I received), must just have been a really bad batch. It's amazing to me though that Nutribiotic hadn't caught this and issued a recall. I checked their website and see no information about a recall.Really glad I could get the same product I'm used to. I tried a different type of protein powder in the meantime but didn't like it as much as this one. Hope this information is helpful for others who've been regular users of this product too.

Incredible, a real nice protein powder.
This is the best deal on here that I could find... I tried many different whey proteins, all with ill effects to my stomach / throat covering up with mucus... Disgusting. On the vegan front I tried Orgain (delicious flavor, too many strange sweeteners for me) and sun warrior (tastes like a sugar bomb, so much Stevia- absolutely disgusting).I think the bad reviews here are from people who drink frosty diabetes shakes from fast food restaurants or Starbucks. Sugary food shouldn't exist in the human diet, this tastes amazing- mixes just fine...it tastes like, guess what, brown rice powder. And guess what- you can put whatever you like in your shake (I think the bad reviewers should've out 60g of white sugar in it to please their palettes).I mix mine with a scoop of yellow pea protein- that way you get the same amount of complete essential aminos that are in whey- then a frozen banana and whatever else you feel like (peanut butter, yogurt, bee pollen, chia seeds, honey- whatever).Absolutely delicious, looking forward to years of using this... Finally an organic protein with no fake flavors and doesn't taste like a pile of sugar.

Organic Vanilla Rice Protein Differs in Taste and Texture From Non-Organic Product
I have used the non-organic Nutribiotic Rice Protein for over a decade without issue. At one time, it cost $23 for 3lbs. although the price has increased significantly over time. I mention the price because the non-organic product had finally reached $40, identical in price to the organic formula, so I figured I'd give the organic version a go. BIG MISTAKE.The organic version has the texture of micro wheat bran flakes which turns to a sludge when mixed with fruit, juice, and yogurt. It tastes acidic almost like what I imagine paint thinner would taste like if it were added to a drink. Frankly, the flavor was so vile, that I couldn't even drink a second sip of the organically-infused protein shake. The vanilla flavor was lost in the mix. It was awful on a level that was pretty tough to match. Worse than what I would imagine carob might be to a Swiss dark chocolate connoisseur. If I could have given negative stars to the organic formulation, I would have done so. I seldom take the time to write a product review, but this situation was so extreme, it felt almost negligent not to write one. On the upside, I received a replenished supply of the old tried and true non-organic version and consumed it this morning with a palpable relief. With any luck, Nutribiotic will learn from its organic formulation error and fix the problem promptly.

Off Flavor
I went with the Vanilla flavor based on the comments that I read but it was chalky and I could not really taste Vanilla. I hate to be a debbie downer but this is just not my cup of tea.

Good protein. Been using it for years.
It's the perfect protein because it's easily digestible, low on sodium and the taste is is not bad at least for the plain. You won't regret it. I always buy the plain one. Is very light and very fine.
