August VGB200 USB2.0 Video Capture Adaptor - S Video / RGB to USB Transfer Cable - Grabber Lead for Window 7 / XP / Vista / Mac OS X v10.5 or above

This is a good video capture set up. I had no problem getting the driver installed on Windows 8.1. Just follow the instruction.I tried the Diamond Brand one sold on Amazon before this one and couldn't get it to install a driver on the same Windows 8.1. It did install on a Win XP but didn't recorded and the record light didn't come one. I returned that one and got this one. This is more expensive but works and is not a door stop.The video capture software on this one is better and easier to use. Both have old Arcsoft software. This one comes witrh ShowBiz and there are tutorials online. On my computer setup it only allowed me to capture in MPEG 2 which is a large but very detailed video file format. You maybe able to capture in other video formats but why except for compression. After captuing your video you can edit and save in other formats in ShowBiz and there is good number of choices. Tip: it is easier to start your video and recording at the spot in the video you would start at in an edited version. You can easily cut out anything in the beginning and end of a video during the capture.One thing the ShwoBIz software does not stop capturing automatically when the video stops. Unaware of any capture software that does. But you can look at how long the video runs if it is commercially produced and just come back before the video ends. The time is usually found on the cassette itselfThe documentation is better on this one than the Diamond brand video capture.

This item did not work after several attempts of following the instructions precisely. The iGrabber wasn't an option under source and it really freaked me out because it only activated my webcam which made it seem like spyware. I QUICKLY installed the software, returned it and ordered a Roxio...I hope it works. Also, I couldn't use the S-video b/c it was female-to-female and very frustrating. Needless to say, I'm disappointed and DO NOT recommend this product.

I can't give this 5 stars since I have no experience with other Video adaptors. But I used it to record the playback to 20 hours of video and it went without a hitch. I have recommended this to several friends who when told of my experience expressed strong interest in doing the same. The software worked great for capture. I have not tried using the editing software included. I know I will since there is little interest in watching any but the best footage.

Works good for what it does. The video is a bit odd on the right side, and seems more like 240p but works never-the-less!

Works great with my Macbook Pro. After years of using a cumbersome, clunky box that seemed selective about working, I upgraded to this tiny thing, and it's worked perfectly. It gets really hot, but aside from that, recording stuff from my old VCR was incredibly easy after a quick software installation. I've been able to transfer many hours of stuff off of home videos with great quality. While I'm not a stickler for crystal-clear video or audio, I can't find any real flaws with this.Very pleased!

THIS UNIT I COULD NOT GET TO WORK ON 3 DIFFERNT COMPUTERS 1 WITH XP,1 WITH 7 AND 0NE (1) VISTA. This is such a cool invention. I have several VHS tapes from military service and I am now converting them over to Digital. Easy to use.
