Buddy Rich's Rudiments Around the Kit Book/Online Audio

I would have given this book 5 stars, but the music is not written in standard notation. ie: Snare is on A instead of C. High hat is low B, instead of high G, etc.Its confusing for a student to have to jump from one notation to the other. I wish the book had been written in the same "language" the rest of the drumming world uses.Other than that, it's a great tool to build "chops", timing, counting, ambidexterity, etc.

Been playin for many years. Learning lots of new licks from this. It is challenging, but very rewarding. Teaches great hand/foot control, and the proper way to quickly attack and move around the set. My favorite so far is the triplet rolls. Well thought out book. It gives you the paint to draw your own pictures. Personally had to start very very slowly until I broke free, but once I got it, all kinds of ideas transposed to my playing style. Guess you can teach an old dog new tricks.

This book is absolutely essential for drummers. It is filled with endless applications of standard rudiments around the kit. After all, Buddy is the KING, so why not try to learn as much from him as possible. This book gives a great deal of insight as to the genius of the man who wrote the book on drumming- Buddy!

I like the book's lessons, explanations and structure. However, for the extra cost, a spiral binding would be more preferable than the flat plastic.

Very good exercises, well written, will push most anybody to improve technique.

excellent book. ted is a fantastic drummer with true understanding of buddys Work. very helpfull in devoloping technique. I also recommend his dvd.
