First bike? Don’t buy!
This bike is as described; the frame is aluminium; the forks are aluminium; and the wheels are aluminium. The only problem I had was the - huge - 60mm rims were really heavy and slowed me down. I changed the wheels to a set of 40mm wheels I had and all was much lighter (and quicker). Another issue with 60mm rims is the lack of availability of inner tubes with long enough valves, most mainstream shops sell inner tubes with 60mm valves but I don’t want to be limited to these as I use slime inner tubes and these only come in about 40mm valve lengths. To give more information:The brakes are cheap (both levers, callipers and pads)The wheels are heavyThe handlebar is narrowThe bottom bracket (68mm square taper) meets a lot of resistanceThis said, with a little interchangeability, the bike can and is awesome. So far I have:Changed from a Munich to a Fi:zi’k saddleChanged from 60mm heavy wheels to a lighter 40mm setChanged from an aluminium to a carbon front forkChanged from cheap plastic to metal Shimano mountain bike cleat pedalsChanged the chainring from a 48T to a 58TChanged the freewheel from a 20T to a 16TInstalled a half-link chainIn the process of changing the bottom bracket to a Campagnolo 68mm x 111mmAll in all, I have pretty much changed all but the frame and handlebars. If this was my first and only bike, I would not buy. However, as I came from a Boardman SLR 8.9, I had some decent parts to swap with. It weighs roughly 9 kg with all the changes I have now made.
