Out with the old, in with the new!
Luv, luv, luv this “chest”! I bought this item to replace a twenty yr old woven “bamboo” hamper that was failing in its structure. Since Suncast products are built to withstand the elements, I figured this would last another twenty yrs plus, since it is inside in the master bedroom. It is bigger than the previous unit, so it holds more bath linen and bed linen. It was easy to put together without hubby’s help! The white color brightens the corner area as well as makes the room look neater and bigger. And the price was better than the Big Z! Thanks, Amazon, for offering this very useful, yet stylish product!

easy to assemble, but only if you pay close attention to the diagrams
This is easy to assemble with two caveats. First, it is easy to assemble it such that the left and right panels are upside down relative to the front and back panels. Fits together nicely that way, but then the bottom panel does not fit at all, and there are large gaps between the front/back panels and the bottom panel. Take it apart and fit it together correctly (look at the diagrams carefully to avoid my mistake; and also note the internal stamping patterns on the insides of the panel, they give a clue about which way is 'up' in all four vertical panels). Second, adding the 'springs' that lock the lid closed (and that hold the lid partly open if you don't push down hard), are hard to install because the screws that secure them in place require being screwed by a horizontal screwdriver, and there is plastic in the way that makes it hard to approach horizontally. But if you come at a slight down angle and are careful not to strip your screw heads because of the bad angle, it can be done. I did not figure out my first mistake myself, but called their 800 number and they very quickly explained the problem and were very happy to look at my photos to help diagnose the problem. Suncast has competent, friendly, and easily accessible support! How often can you say that about any company these days? And the quality is quite good. I'd be surprised if it did not last for at least a decade if not abused.

which I really loved. I thought I would look for something else ...
I first bought a pair of the Elements Chairs, which I really loved. I thought I would look for something else to provide "ottoman" and "table" space but everything I could buy from a brick and mortar store, was pretty low quality and very expensive. Although you need to be careful to "slide in" the sides of this table so that they don't go wonky, overall, the assembly was quite simple with my electric drill and 3 inch drill bits - and I am one of those people who ALWAYS struggles with assembly - so for me to make this claim is a pretty wonderful thing! I'm using the "end table" as an ottoman for one of the chairs and have placed the "coffee table" between the two chairs on my very small patio. All of the pieces look fantastic, are incredibly sturdy and have a terrific proportion. I've added some bright yellow seat cushions to go with my bright yellow patio umbrella and it just looks wonderfully welcoming, clean and fresh. I really love these products and would buy them again/recommend them to friends.

Raindrops keep falling on my towels (otherwise, mostly OK)
This product is good enough that I don’t regret buying it, despite a few annoyances. The assembly instructions are minimal, which is typical these days. If you’re used to putting together similar products, you should do fine; otherwise you may be befuddled. The pieces themselves aren’t completely uniform but apparently manufactured to just-good-enough tolerances. The tabs on one side of a panel ought to be the same as on the other side, so you’d think, but in fact they might be slightly bent (mine were). This made proper assembly a bit of a struggle and required a couple of attempts to get things to fit just-so. The assembly instructions list gloves, safety glasses, a screwdriver and a mallet as necessary tools for installation at the very top of page one. Curiously, these four items are never mentioned again. You don’t need to be a genius to realize what you’ll be using a screwdriver for, but a few words about the mallet might have been helpful. The mallet-less instructions simply tell you to push the pieces together, but in fact you will need a mallet to pound them into place -- or will you? Again, if you are accustomed to assembling similar products, you should be OK. If you aren’t, you may find yourself pounding the heck out of two pieces that don’t align as well as they should. To be fair, many products are a lot worse when it comes to overall quality and ease of assembly. Beyond the assembly issues, there are two other problems. The design of the top has an indented border running along the edges. It arguably looks nice, but when it rains, the border collects water. The water stays there, and the wicker-weave design is such that’s actually hard to get the border area completely dry, even with a handful of paper towels. This means that when you open the top, some water may dribble in and land on whatever you’re storing in this box (in my case, towels that I would prefer remain dry). We’re not talking about a lot of water, just a few drops. It’s more an annoyance than a fatal flaw. Finally, the top itself isn’t all that easy to open. It is secured by two “spring closure” clips that hold the cover down rather tightly. That’s good in one sense -- I’ve owned other products where the top has flown open during a thunderstorm. But since the box is lightweight (depending on what you put inside it) when you lift the lid, you tend to lift the box. I suppose the fit may become less tight over time. In any case, giving the lid a quick sharp jerk seems to be the best way to get it open. I keep calling this a storage box, because calling it a “Coffee Table with storage” seems a stretch, like calling a fast-food worker a “sandwich artist.” It’s a big plastic box -- that actually looks pretty good in my back yard. It’s worth the asking price, despite some issues. I’ll just have to remember to keep a roll of paper towels handy when it rains.

Easy to put together - don't listen to negative reviewers!
I was a little hesitant to purchase this with all the negative reviews, but the size and functionality was exactly what I was looking for, so I went ahead and got it. I put it together in under 30 minutes. No problems at all. It was the easiest thing I think I have ever put together and have no idea how people had problems. The "angles" that negative reviewers talked about ... well .. you just take your screw gun and aim it at the angle required. There is an alcove of sorts at the entrance of the screw hole ... this alcove is sloped, this is the angle you follow. Nothing to figure out. Just follow the slope into the hole and put your screw in. Voila. Which brings me to the non-predrilled holes...well if you had a screw gun to drill the holes, then you could use that same screw gun to just screw the screws in. They went through the plastic easily with no predrilling on my end. Everything went off without a hitch and I really do not understand how anybody had any problem with this. I also purchased and put together a Suncast storage seat and 40" wide cabinet which were also easy to put together. As far as the rubber mallet mentioned by another reviewer to bang the pieces into the slots - I used my palm and didn't crush anything. Was it a tight fit? Yes, it was, but nothing ridiculous. I would rather all the pieces fit nice and snug, making for a stronger unit, rather than a sloppy fit. BTW - I am a 47-year-old female office worker, not a construction worker lol Really not sure why anyone had problems. I would totally recommend this product.

It's beautiful and functional
Like with everything I buy I read the reviews first. The one that was most helpful was the one about not listening to the negative reviews. The box arrived in perfect condition and all the parts were there. It took less than 30 minutes for me (a 54 year old Grandma) to put it together. The lid opens and closes smoothly as it should. The directions were clear and easy to read.Im so happy with it!!!! It is beautiful and exactly what I wanted!!!

Quality Control Issue
We love Suncast & have purchased before. Very easy to put together, water proof, stores furniture covers perfectly plus it's not bulky & totally usable. With that said we have an issue with the top of the table. It has an imprint in it all the way across the top of it from factory. Like a roller went across it while it was still hot. In the sunlight it's very noticeable. We emailed company & they responded immediately sending us a new top. Only it has same issue. Great customer service but poor quality control. Nobody looked at the top that went out to us to see if issue was corrected in their manufacturing. I have let Suncast know but I'm disappointed.

Great small footprint storage/coffee table/light (unofficial use) bench needs for someone's porch or patio area
Very happy with purchase. Took a bit to settle in as well as build to begin with. Bought as a gift for someone that isn't a 'brown' fan. Their porch furniture set is resin wicker with medium soft warm brown tones and 'bronze' framing parts. The key purpose for the purchase was to offer a small footprint storage piece, that also can be used as a coffee table and occasional 'light' seating (since this piece is not specifically designed as bench seating'. We added a DIY seat cushion tying it in with other furniture pieces. It took a bit to get used to, it isn't quite the same caliber as other higher grade resin wicker pieces on the porch. Yet, it ends up a winner. Storage was immediately found to be a valuable addition, now this item stores a few throw pillows & other garden tools/porch odds & ends in two added tupperware-like bins placed inside. Everything stays very dry. Easy to get in & out, even with the cushion atop. It was a bit of a bugger to build, even with my lengthy experience in such things. Screw holes are not punched through/open already and at a slant. Gettling all sides completely 'snapped in' top to bottom took a couple tries. But, patience, a glass of wine during construction, and knowing in the end that the storage and other uses to come, made it worth the exercise. We did not end up installing the top 'latch' piece yet, top opens & closes fine and there is so far no need to secure further. As an owner of several such suncast etc. outdoor items, true returns come from pieces such as this that do hard duty in storage etc. outdoors even in colder climates such as we have where we live. Very happy with the purchase. Size was a perfect answer for the slightly space-challenged porch area it now serves.
