"What might have been"
Wow,the complete strip. The top crime writer of his era and a hall of fame cartoonist.A great combination Too bad after setting up X-9 to compete with the brilliant Dick Tracy,Alex Raymond became much too busy to devote the proper time to it.King Features had enough hungry artists to draw the strip, but following in Raymond's footsteps always was a daunting challenge. The artwork fell off considerably once Raymond left the strip for good.I don't know when Hammett left ,but the strip was reduced to a pedestrian strip after that.X-9 became an agent with a name and the strip ran for decades! Too bad!

Wonderful book
A flash in the past. The art work is wonderful, the styles of that era are amazing, and the story line very interesting. A wonderful book to add to my collection and it's the final piece.

Beautiful collection of Hammett's entire Secret Agent X-9 run
Beautiful collection of Hammett's entire Secret Agent X-9 run. The vintage comics themselves are Hammett slumming for a paycheck, but this book is wonderful and ought to be on the shelf of every Hammett fan.

Good read. A fun look back at a different style of comic story telling.

" best describes my reaction to this bound comic-book
"Disappointed," best describes my reaction to this bound comic-book. Disappointed in the pedestrian stories by the master story-teller Dashiell Hammett and the beginner art work by the great Alex Raymond (of "Flash Gordon" fame). I understand the roiling complexities of the management of this comic. Nonetheless, it's what's on the page that counts. And the pages in this book do not count for much.S. Martin Shelton
