BoJack Horseman: Seasons One & Two

This is my first exposure to Bojack Horseman, and I have to say I love it. It is not your standard adult cartoon show. It is not Family Guy, it is not The Simpsons, and it is not Squid Billies, it is not South Park, etc. The overall message of the season 1 and 2 is that life can be hard and depressing, Hollywood can be a cold hard town. No matter how much money a person has they can still live in the past in order to find some sort of comfort while at the same time they can be full of self hatred, what you think you want out of life is not necessarily true/ your not necessarily going to succeed at what you attempt to do, etc. This is a very interesting show. I think one thing that threw my attention (some times) were some of the stories. Some episodes were very to the point and felt like a more adult theme all the way through. However, there are some episodes where it comes across like a more typical adult cartoon where it is played up as being silly/shock value. However, then often towards the end of these specific episodes they become more thought provoking/ eye opening about a character/ ones own self refelction. One example was the episode where Bojack and his friends (if I can call them that) where tripping out on drugs while trying to write his memoirs. When first watching it I almost skipped to the next episode. I found the first half silly, and initially I felt the episode was being played primarily for shock value. However, the last half of the episode made the first half worth watching. During the latter half Bojack (while tripping on dope) had a total view of life, and how he could have been more content/ happier if he had chosen a different life (there was a point to the episode, and a powerful one).This show can be odd at times where it makes you flinch (for those who do not know what it is about). Especially when you see the animal characters having relations with humans. DON'T GET ME WRONG, in this world animals are people, bugs are people, humans are people so it doesn't cross the line of bestiality. But it can be a little shocking at times (but there are verrryyyyyy few moments like this - no real details being shown).I think people who will enjoy this series the most are the following: 1. self haters. 2. addict abusers. 3. people who want change but are not fully sure how to do so 4. PEOPLE WHO ARE DEPRESSED. 4. People who have self defensive shields up so they can't be emotionally hurt by others. 5 people with reallllyyyyy crappppy families. 6. Self defitiests. 7, people who get themselves into the wrong type or relationships, 8. people who don't really know what they want out of life, and etc.Don't get me wrong. I am not trying to build this show up like it is sooooo dramatic and thought provoking all the time. it can be silly and childish at times, but the deeper meanings and messages are often there. And I think this show should be recognized far more by a broder audience then it is.I also enjoyed how despite some characters coming across 2 dimentional, are often turned into 3 dimentional characters during season one and two.

I bought this to replace my DVD copy of this collection. The show itself is wonderful and well worth supporting, but the case arrived broken and the product was not packaged in a way that would prevent damage. The discs seem to be okay, but I'd recommend purchasing from another source if you're looking for a nice collector's edition to sit on your shelf.

Everything on disc 2 after episode 2 wouldn't play on any dvd player. Returned for another copy and had the same thing happen. Must be a factory error.

The price point for this item seems too high, but rest assured, the quality of the video is flawless. I haven't checked out the special features much or anything, but I'm happy just to have a perfect copy of the show without the need for internet or cable!

If you are buying this, you most likely watched it on Netflix and want to preserve it for when Netflix dies .... so no point in going over the show (which is fantastic), but cast and crew commentaries on every episode is worth the price of admission for me.

Nonostante la maggior parte dei bluray e giochi oggi sia region free questo è riproducibile solo da dispositivi americani. Un vero peccato, ci tenevo molto ad avere questo disco ma sono costretto ad avviare la procedura di reso. Chiederei al venditore di specificarlo o addirittura non venderlo su Amazon Italia.Per chi è invece interessato alla serie è da 5 stelle, guardatela e non ve ne pentirete

No one knows how long I've waited for this show to come out in DVD. Took me 2 years to find. Better than I expected!! Left me wanting more. This is a "different" sort of dark comedy. It's not like Family Guy or even South Park. To me it's a little closer to Archer and still BJH is darker than the three shows combined. This adult cartoon is NOT for everybody. If you get easily depressed or highly emotional, THINK before purchasing. Not for the faint of heart/emotionally stable. It's one thing to watch it, it's another thing to process it. You've been warned.

Fabulous! Cant wait till more releases! Also came with slip cover. Awesome! One of my favorite shows.
