Sturdy, solid and presentable too.
The guy who said "After a lot of looking, measuring and figuring, I bought this item in the 22" inch version. It took a little engineering to bolt it to the floor in my '91 xj,..." seems like the type that may over think and overly complicate things. This is certain for the guy fretting that he'd have to loosen a seat bolt and sweating getting it tight enough. Yeah, you can look up the factory specs and use a torque wrench if you want to, but try some common sense. If you re-secure the bolt snugly, then give it another cinch so it's tight (but not to the point where you'd think a walnut brained Gorilla ratcheted that bolt), then-you are good to go.This was super easy to install. I had a little initial concern because my wife's SUV seat bolts are set in a plate that is at a swept back angle of perhaps 40° or so, when the images showed only examples of a flat 0° or 90° mounting. However, adjusting it to 40° took no "measuring and figuring" at all.A simple look at your situation and the use common sense is all one should need. A quick use of a measuring tape to confirm the size (length/height) is needed at most, if there is any doubt. Then you can be confident if you want/need the 18" or 22" model for your car. If you have a small sedan, 18" is likely to be perfect, but if you have a SUV, Van or truck, it's a safe bet the 22" unit is the way to go.After confirming that the long version would be best for the wife's Sequoia, I loosened the seat bolt, gently bent the flexible shaft mount to line up at the 40° angle the seat bolt was mounted on, simply by eyeballing it, see how it aligned, then tightened the attached unit to th seat bold just enough to make adjustments to the gooseneck.I sized this up, loosen the bolt to take the unit off so I could use the side of the car seat to gently bend the gooseneck into a close approximation of what was desired for its desired positioning, tightened the bolt a little, then adjust again. Doing this a little at a time, because you would not want a crimp or tight bend in that gooseneck if you did not need it for your application. That sounds long, but it only took maybe 3-4 minutes. After getting it into a close, satisfactory approximation of the the desired orientation of this unit, I tightened the seat bolt securely, added the phone holder portion at the top, then made the slight, final positioning adjustments. The fretting about the holder being plastic...get a grip and show me one that is NOT made out of plastic. It sure seems durable to me and the wife loves it.Sure, you can sacrifice a cup holder if you are too afraid to use a wrench and common sense. I find cup holders too valuable for their intended purpose to waste that space with cup mounted phone holders, if not absolutely necessary. And guess what-those cup mount holders are all made out of plastic too. This did not even take much more than about fifteen minutes; from finding the correct ratchet size for the seat bolt, shaping the mount bracket, adjusting the gooseneck, tightening the bolt securely, snapping the phone cradle into place and making the final tweaks to this holders orientation.I put this in a 2004 Sequoia on the passenger side for the drivers use, across the console from the driver and the reach is perfect. It does not take up any of the leg room for the passenger, either. It swivels around and also works great from the passenger side use too, if desired. If you are not familiar, the first gen Sequoias dash and console are all rounded and curved, with just about every area unsuitable for a proper phone mount.Vent mounts are crappy and end up breaking the HVAC vents, cup mounts take up space and can get in the way of controls, in my experience. This is a proper solution.Having phone or GPS on the dash is illegal in some areas ("as an obstruction"). They invite theft by being out in the open, and dash top mounts are completely unsuitable in areas like the S or SW with blazing temps where the sun can and will over-heat the unit until it shuts down to protect itself,. The sun will ultimately discolor to obliterate anything mounted on the dash. Those that require adhesive mounting tapes melt and leave a mess, and suction cups inevitably fail-hopefully not when you're braking or making a turn.Far the guy going on about "having to stabilize" this unit, there is NO WAY that is needed, unless perhaps one regularly travels over 'washboard' dirt roads. Otherwise, this is yet another example of overthinking the simple and making things way more complicated than they have to be.It seems far more likely that the installation is the problem here. If you have a tiny seat bold, mine was 14mm, then perhaps it would be wise to use a washer to increase the holding area on the crows foot mount end. This unit is worth the money. Most of the others are going to fail, break something, or get in the way.5 Stars. I am so pleased (as is the wife) that I am purchased one for my commercial Van. These ARE "commercial grade" in quality and durability, but perfectly presentable in any car, truck, van or SUV while NOT being in the way and saving precious space at the same time.

Works great on my 2021 992 Porsche 911 w/ manual
I've been looking for a cell phone mount for my 2021 manual transmission 911 for a long time. While there is a really good phone mount for the PDK (automatic) that mounts right next to the PDK transmission tunnel, it doesn't work with a manual transmission because there's not enough space next to the shifter, plus you need even more room because you have to row through 7 speeds on the manual.I bought this Arkon mount as I used a similar arm mount decades ago in one of my first cars. This thing works PERFECTLY for my application. It was a bit tricky because the mounting tab that fits under the seat screw was too wide and I had to grind it down a bit to make it fit between the seat rail where the mounting bolt attaches. Once that was done, everything else came together perfectly. This version with the 22" arm is just the right length for my car. I also tried a shorter 18" version and it was WAY too short to reach from the seat bolt up to a comfortable usable height. So make sure you chooes at least the 22" version. I don't even see how this can work well on larger cars like sedans and trucks that are taller than my car.The arm did vibrate a bit but i took care of that by bending a piece of flat metal into a U, covering it in felt and sliding that U shaped bracket under the right side of the plastic trim on the right side of the transmission tunnel, then zip tying the arm to that bracket. The mount positions the phone perfectly and face ID works very easily by just a quick swipe and sideways glance at the phone.Even though the arm is mounted to the front left bolt on the passenger seat, I am still able to move the seat completely forward and backwards without interfereing with the arm mount and without the passenger's legs hitting the arm.The only slight issue I've had is, it partially obstructs the glove box so when I open it I have to pull the arm a bit to the left to avoid the glove box from scraping on the arm. But that's not a problem at all. I can't really mount it further left as it would start to obstruct my hand space when I put the car into 7th gear or obstruct the view of other controls. As others have mentioned, the arm is a very stiff single piece of aluminum that's somewhat hard to bend. However, the good thing about that is, once it's bent to the shape you want, it retains its shape very well. As others pointed out, it is very important that you do not try to bend the arm by holding onto the plastic bottom portion where the arm fits into or you will break that plastic piece. Pull the arm out, bend it to shape, test fit, then tighten the aluminum arm back onto that plastic mount. You WILL break that plastic mounting piece if you try to bend the aluminum arm after it's been mounted.Knowing that plastic mounting point was prone to breaking, when I had to make minor adjustments to the arm after it had been installed, I made sure to grab the bottom of the arm and hold it firmly in place before I adjusted the upper part of the aluminum arm.All in all, this is a very sturdy, well built product that is priced reasonably and does exactly what I wanted it to do.

Very good mount
I'm happy with this, it's solid and get the job done and with a simple press of a button it releases your phone very easily.

Sturdy and easy to use
Works great in my Toyota Corolla. Like others said you have to carefully bend the very stiff arm into the position/shape you want it in before installing/bolting it onto the base of the car floor. So that you don’t break the plastic at the bottom of the bendable arm.

This mount is bad a**- Buy it you will not be disappointed-I have mounted in my SxS
This is the second one I have had, the first one was in a 4 door Polaris and I sold it but I forgot to take pictures. I have this mounted in a 4 door Can Am Max X3, I have put almost 80 miles on since I installed it and it is very very sturdy. 80 miles of AOAA riding, these trails are pretty bumpy -I have a Samsung Note 23 Ultra it is a big phone and it holds it with an iron grip. It is very easy to secure , I used a bolt that hold the seat in, it has not gotten loose and it is exposed to the elements and still works great. Buy two, because you are going to want to put in another vehicle.

Broke on Install!
The plastic base and ball bracket both split during install. I shouldn't have wasted my time and money on this purchase and brought the more expensive RAM mount to begin with!

It's versatile, practical and a peace of mind while driving.
The ARKON's phone holder mount is my second unit for another vehicle. I installed it on the rail of the passenger's seat which is appropriate. It's professional, safe and you can enjoy it for many more years to come.
