For the first time ever, one of the most distinctive and revered electronic groups of all time have compiled a massive collection of tracks from their EP releases (mostly out of print) between 1991 and 2002.

Contains some of Autechre's best.
Ended up buying this and a few of Autechre's LPs when I was first getting into them, and at first I was like... "Do I like this? Is this good?" and then I kept on listening to it again and again, and then something clicked. A bit later on I found that I actually enjoy their EPs more. . . Stuff like the Anti-EP and Envane are absolutely incredible. With this release you get a ton of music for your dollar, and as far as I know, it contains most of their EPs minus 2 or 3 remix EPs. If you're looking into getting into Autechre, I can't help but stress to buy this. Contains some of their best stuff. Milk DX, Goz Quarter, Drane... incredible stuff.

Nice collection
Nice collection. Great for completionists. I happened to already have several of the eps included, but the newer stuff like EP7 was a new listen for me.

Picking up the scraps of the greatest IDM duo of its genre: The music of Autechre
Other than "Cavity Job", I have already found all those loose ends that are Autechre's rare EP's.The EP's of Garbage and Anvil Vapre are actually added to the American release of Tri Repatae which is why that album is a double CD.There may be a few others, but they have become very rare. Very hard to find. I've discovered more tracks by Autechre and various other "remixed by Autechre" releases all over the IDM sound genre. Plus, some artists like Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Boards of Canada and the such have released similar recording as that of Autechre, but Autechre will always be the leader of this sound. But, what I would really like to get, and I'm sure many Autechre fans would like to get, is a box set of all the Gescom recordings. Gescom is like this pseudonym of Autechre. Gescom is a secondary name for what Autechre has done under this hidden name, and not much of it is available on CD, especially here in the US.Sean Booth and Rob Brown has released recordings under the pseudonym, Gescom. There is nothing on CD available from Gescom, (except "MiniDisc" which is nothing very interesting at all), but that doesn't mean you can't find their better recordings through various person to person music swap sites.Look for these Gescom albums (I think they are only available on vinyl, and maybe only in the UK and Europe):EP1 (1994), EP2 (1995), Motor (1994), The Sounds of Machines our Parents Used (1995), Keynell (1996), MiniDisc (1998), This (1998), That (1998), and Iss:sa (1999)There are various takes and re-developed versions of Keynell. Just knowing that Gescom is so scarce, especially in America, it only makes it all the more totally cool to have these recordings share the CD carousel player with my other Autechre CD's.I find a sense of comfort in the lunacy that is Autechre's music. I have to listen to Autechre every day. It's gotten harder to listen to regular music any more and it is certainly difficult to revert back to regular music immediately after switching off Autechre. Autechre is like a drug, a stimulant, a natural high. It's a sound that inspires motivation in what ever you are doing. And yes, I can get mildly depressed if I don't have some Autechre at my immediate avail. If I've got a lot of work to do, then I know I'll get it done (and fast), if I've got Autechre playing in my background. So, you other Autechre addicts out there, please share your story. Let us all know what Autechre has done for you, too. Has Autechre changed your life, in a positive or negative way? We need to let other people know how Autechre has an indirectly strange way of promoting better psychological health and a more positive vision about life.

Beautifully packaged...
...but there's nothing here that isn't already available at used CD stores. If you're a diehard fan like I am, chances are you have everything already. The completist in me is tempted to buy it. However, since I have all the eps already and there's no new content or an extra disc of unreleased material it's not worth spending the money. Yet it's a steal for those who don't have all the eps.Three stars for the cool packaging.

killer collection
great collection, affordable price, slick design. no complaints, although i no longer own a device that can play the hidden track, and really wish EP7 wasn't split in half onto 2 discs, but i understand why it was, and it's not such a big hassle. recommended!

1**!
EP's 1991-2002
If you (like me) consider music derived from electronic musical devices an art form that is capable of speaking for itself then you need to seriously consider this box set.Firstly I doubt this will come out on vinyl (as a complete set) and I am no fan of CD format but I made an exception for this set. These two chaps have one of the most interesting and boundary pushing of sonic palettes. This selection of music (if you make music) will no doubt inspire creative processes in analogue and digital sound synthesis. It leaves you as a witness to examples of some of the very best compositions in the genre.Few can stand shoulder to shoulder with Ae.
