Another Winning Workout!
This was the 3rd of 3 Jane Fonda workout DVDs I have purchased. My mom did these workouts in the 80s when I was very young and now that I'm almost 40 and my kids are older, I finally have started to make time for myself to get fit cardio wise. I really like this DVD a lot because you can customize it to your own fitness level. I've been doing Jane workouts for about 9 months now and I feel a difference in endurance and flexibility. This particular DVD has lower impact and higher impact options on the same workout. Jane and Laurel lead the same routine with higher impact while Jeannie leads the low impact. You just watch and move with the person whose fitness intensity you are desiring. The workout begins with arm toning - myself I use 5 and 2.2 pound weights for this. Jane suggests alternating for specific exercises. She always leads with enthusiasm and reminds you of proper form/breathing, while also having fun, which makes the workout go quickly. It's why she's the queen of fitness! What I like about the arm workout is that you don't exhaust the muscles with too many reps at once, you do several different exercises, then come back to the same ones for another set. Then there is the cardio. I work up a sweat for sure, but it's excellent 30 minutes of cardio. The music is upbeat and keeps you energized.Lastly, there is a lower body toning section. You can do the cardio and arms one day and the cardio and lower body another if you aren't able to just do the whole thing. I am able to do the entire workout in one day. The lower body workout uses ankle weights (optional) and focuses on legs, abs, and glutes. Again, what I love is that she doesn't exhaust the same movement, you do one set and go back for another after more exercises. I really love this workout and do it several times a week, alternating with my other Jane DVDs. Don't be intimidated by the high impact movements at first, you can start with the low impact and then move up to the higher impact. So worth the $9.99!!

I am so glad to be writing this review
I am so glad to be writing this review. First, I am a 31 year old fitness instructor/personal trainer and I suggest to my female clients to incorporate this as part of their 'at home' cardio routine. I am not sexist, men can benefit from it too....they may find some of the dance workouts a little....Demasculizing! Lol. And I had read one reviewer grading the 'corny-ness' of the workouts. Yes, it's from the 80's and the method of application could be considered somewhat whimsical..but here's the thing...it works!!!!! I am 5'1" 110lbs and because I lift weights, eat healthy (low fat, high protein, NO process EVER!), and use Jane Fonda as part of cardio...I'm a happy girl! After 3 children things (and by 'things' I am referring to body parts), were no longer taut and youthful in appearance or texture like they were when I was 18 and a cheerleader. So I don't mind the corny aspect....I would rather look corny then feel unhealthy. This DVD is a complete workout, which means it covers upper body, lower body and cardio. I have my own routine and format for my upper and lower, so I purchase Jane's DVDs pretty much for the cardio. I will use her program every other day that I'm not running, jump roping, or swimming..keeps my workouts from getting stagnant and me from the dreaded plateau. Jane's workouts all are for beginners or an avid fitness pro, there is always assistants with her showing how to do the modified routines...which can be very helpful for those just starting the journey of a new healthy lifestyle. None of my female clients complain, they're all getting/or have gotten great results, I am very pleased...and again, can't beat Prime!

80's Nostalgia
When I was a child, my mother used to do these workouts. She would lose 25 pounds. Her friends wondered what she was doing. So, she actually got a class together and they'd do it all the time over at a friend's house. I did THIS particular workout as a kid when my parents were asleep or at work. My best childhood friend, my sister, and I would just do it and have fun.Fast forward as a 28-year-old. I've been looking for this workout for years. The old VHS tapes cost mega-billion bucks and I could never find one that was affordable until I got my hands on this. This is the work that has that funny animation with the Jane Fonda doll by the shoe, towel, cassette tape player, etc in the blue workout apparel.**DVD Menu Screen**-Introduction: This is Jane Fonda explaining that she has responded to request in making DVDs of her old workouts. She gives a tiny background of what it was first like back in the day, and even how gyms in that day were mainly for men.- Browse Programs: This takes you a menu that has three pages worth of workouts.PART ONE1. My ears were wide open as flashbacks of my childhood came back. There were songs I had forgotten. The moves are very unique. With weights she really does help you tire out your arms even though the exercises seem so simple. She said it will help back support and give beautiful shoulders. But to be honest, I was waiting for a break. My arms were crying. The cardio part consists of really funny and exciting exercises. Each has a theme and it will get you pumping. I started sweating, thinking this was crazy. My lower legs were cramping, and sometimes the moves are performed so fast that it's hard to keep up. But if you practice, it's easy to follow along. There was a cowboy theme and the way she had us moving made me think 'lol! what am i doing!?' But it was EFFECTIVE! You move around A LOT.The push ups on the floor are not hard, nor does she drag it out. I think you do probably 8 or 12 and you're done. The floor work toward the end with the stomach and oblique exercise will make you begging for mercy. Good Lord! But I would have much preferred she had all the floor work in one segment instead of having a small one just before the cardio segment. It just easier to keep up with the mat.She said you burn about 200 to 400 calories by the time you complete the cardio part. I burned 273 at the end of the cardio, and then 311 calories toward the very end. I am between 160-156 pounds. So, if you're around my size, you can do this (or at least the high intensity mode). You WILL need a sports bra for this. My knees did hurt a bit. So I wore some knee support wraps.LOVE IT!
