Great lock, less than great google nest
Install was quick and easy, it wasn't a perfect match for my door but with some tweaking I made it work. Main issue now is the weather strips on my door are a tad thick so the smart lock has a tendency to stop on the last 1/8th of an inch when locking and so it will say the door didn't lock, even though it did, it's only a sliver short of being fully engaged. That's not the locks fault though. The reason for 3 stars is the Nest Connect that came with it is (hopefully) a faulty model. It worked initially, but about 15 minutes after the full install the connect went offline and was unreachable. I removed it form the nest account and factory reset it, all seemed fine until I want to re-add it to the account, the phone (pixel 4 xl) could no longer detect it. I tried creating a new account, no dice. Tried my wifes iPhone, no dice, tried an iPad, no dice. Tried my kindle fire, no dice. Insert 3 hours of trying everything in a bag of tricks as a network admin with no luck. Ultimately got in touch with Google support and after a brief explanation of the issue and what I had done already to try to fix it they didn't make me go back through any troubleshooting, simply said they'd send me a slip to send mine back and they would send a replacement. If I get a new connect that is fully functional, the review will go up to 5 stars, the lock itself works great and I have zero complaints about that part of the package. Edit: just realized now a year later I neglected to update this. Google sent me a new functional nest extender and all worked after that, so the review.has been changed to give stars.

I would recommend this product.
Great lock. Does what is expected of it. Batteries we're used. irregardless and it does fine. It took a little bit for the installation. You have to be smarter than the device. We'll see how long the battery lasts.

### Review: Nest Connect and Google Yale Lock I've been using the Nest Connect and Google Yale Lock for a few months now, and my experience has been frustrating, to say the least. The main issue is that they frequently go offline, which completely defeats the purpose of having a smart lock and connected system. **Connectivity Issues**: Despite having a strong Wi-Fi signal, both the Nest Connect and the Yale Lock struggle to stay connected. This has left me locked out of my home on several occasions and has made remote access and control virtually impossible. **Inconsistent Performance**: When the devices are online, they work well. However, this consistency is rare. The connection drops often, and I find myself constantly having to reset or troubleshoot the devices. **Customer Support**: Reaching out to customer support has not been very helpful. The standard troubleshooting steps don't resolve the core issue of the connectivity problems, and I've yet to receive a solution that actually works. **Firmware Updates**: While I appreciate that Nest and Google try to fix issues through firmware updates, these updates haven't resolved the offline problems. In fact, sometimes they seem to create new issues. **Overall Experience**: For the premium price point, I expected a lot more reliability from both the Nest Connect and the Google Yale Lock. The frequent offline status makes them unreliable for daily use. I cannot recommend these products until significant improvements are made to their connectivity and performance. It's a shame because the potential for these devices is high, but they fall short in delivering a dependable smart home experience. Proceed with caution if you're considering adding these to your smart home setup.

Time to correct some peoples' misconceptions...
EDIT: I was mistaken about one detail, Google Assistant will NOT unlock the door, only lock. I had tried it that way and assumed it would work both directions but not-so. Doesn't affect my rating or view on it, just thought it'd be helpful info to provide. tl;dr: The negative reviewers probably couldn't tie their own shoelaces, and if you want to know why, read on. Normally I do a pro's and con's review, but after seeing the 'top review' on this product being a disparaging review stemming from his lack of knowledge on install and usage (which was all in the manual and app), I figured I'd make a review to respond. Here are the top bullet points of the other negative reviews and the reality of them: • 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘧𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 40000% 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘣𝘰𝘭𝘵 𝘰𝘳 1000% 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦 (𝘥𝘶𝘮𝘣) 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘣𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬. 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘬𝘦𝘺 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘰𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵, 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘢 9𝘷 𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯'𝘵 𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬. 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘: This is a half truth. If you install the strike plate so it misaligns with the deadbolt, it'll be finnicky about wanting to lock. With a dumb deadbolt, you can force it with your fingers. You wouldn't want the motor to force the lock as it'd burn it out quickly. This is entirely avoided by performing a proper install to begin with, which in my case just meant using a small flathead and hammer to knock some of the wood away where the strike plate was going to sit before screwing it on. And then the bit about needing a 9V? The lock itself is powered by 4 AA's, and it warns you well in advance when the lock needs a battery swap. If you let it die, you'd really have to be negligent. • 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘮 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘕𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯'𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘨𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘳 𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘴. 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘: This is just flat out wrong. Not only can you add individual family members (who can also each have their own unique passcodes), you can create guest and temporary passcodes. • 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘕𝘰 𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘦𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘧𝘪 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘹𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘦𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘱𝘱 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘱𝘪𝘯 𝘯𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳. 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘: This is true, but while having proximity would be great, it's not secure. If you forget your phone in your house, your door will stay unlocked. Then what? • 𝘐 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘵 𝘴𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘣𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘳, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘥𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘕𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵, 𝘴𝘰 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘴, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘴, 𝘤𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘴, 𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘴. 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘: This is also flat out wrong. You can grant two levels of access to other members you add to your family, administrative rights or Home-Entry-Only. They can be granted unique codes and they have no access to settings. • 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘪𝘦𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘨𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘣𝘰𝘭𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘮 & 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤 & 𝘪𝘵 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘬𝘦 𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘭. 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘: The tailpiece is identical to the "dumb" deadbolt I replaced. The difference is that the Nest's tailpiece has some leeway where it's attached to the turn assembly BECAUSE YOU COULDN'T INSTALL IT OTHERWISE. This amount of give is purely for install purposes and doesn't detract to the "locking security" of the deadbolt. The only way to break it is trying to purposely break it off or if you improperly tried to slot it through the bolt assembly. I'm sorry but that's like complaining a butter knife has no durability after stepping on one end and lifting the other end with your arm. Anyway. Hope this helps anyone looking to try this thing out. Maybe if some of the other reviewers read manual, they'd be sitting pretty right now, but y'know. The only difficulty I had was pairing the Nest Connect, and it was A-okay once I disconnected the Bluetooth headphones I was using during install.

Great product but somewhat difficult to install
First off love the lock, love everything about it. However my complaint is this was not the easiest thing to install. The directions were not easy to follow, it was a bit complicated but in the end I got it to work. Overall it took me 2.5 hours to do everything I needed to do to get this working. Now that its installed love it and its great.

Easy installation and works very well.
The install was easy of the hardware but the software did get a little tricky. Some of it was user error but once you figure out what you are doing, it's a breeze. I love that we can easily assign specific codes to each family member if we want to and we can do a guest code for a pet sitter while we are on vacation and change that code after we return. It also logs which family member/guest locked and unlocked the door so you always know who is entering the house. You can use the app to unlock or the keypad. This is totally keyless so be sure to have batteries on hand when the low battery warning comes on but if for some reason you failed on that part, you can use a 9 volt from the outside to operate it and unlock the door. It's really foolproof and you can't mess this up. Well worth every penny especially for a family on different schedules coming and going all hours of the day.

Don’t go with this seller. Rip off. Refuses to honor warranty. Lock is a good lock,
DO NOT GO WITH THIS BUYER. ONLY deal directly with Amazon being the seller. This seller refused to stand behind the warranty. It’s still under warranty until November of 26. That said, lock is well made, durable and looks classy. Ours had an internal gear issue, and the seller refused to stand by the warranty; pushed us off the “the manufacturer”.

Replaced my old lock
Perfect and works with no flaws. Need to chip some wood in the door to fit it correctly. Works with GOOGLE HOME. Product not available in UAE Nest Stores. This is more like an US Version Warranty can be issue
