Great cheap gauge!
Works great! Took a little to install but it was my first time doing anything like this. I put this in my 1995 volkswagen cabrio, reads the rpm almost dead on accurate from what I can tell as my rpm gauge doesn’t work hence getting this but I have noticed it’s a little finicky at 5k..like It will jump to 0 back to 5k once or twice really quickly then go back to reading really smooth. anyways you got to make sure you set what cylinders you car is…When you hold the button down it lets you select 1-8 on gauge face. Also if you have a ignition module make sure you tie into the correct negative wire, I had to splice into the middle black on my 3 pin connector.

Not accurately represented in ad
First, I have to say this tach looks good. But let me explain my review. The instructions on the ad show three wires. But this tach comes with 5 wires. There is no explanation as to why. All of the how to videos show tachs with four and three wires. Also, I hooked this up and all the needle did was bounce. It didnt show roms at all. I selected the correct cylinder setup using instructions I found in the reviews…not for the seller or manufacturer. The instructions should say exactly how to hook it up…but instructions are very vague…making this product unusable. So I am returning it.

Works just fine.
Works just fine. Face plate is dark so i wired the light and Ignition wire together so that light turns on the light when the car is running.

Works as it should
I went ahead and bought the voltmeter and the O2 gauges from the same company. Seemed silly not to.This review will be for the o2 Gauge. The gauge was VERY simple to install, although I do have experience with vehicles. Do NOT expect this gauge to be completely accurate as it's just a simple one wire and not a wideband gauge. The main reason for my purchase was, in all honesty, looks. I needed the Voltmeter, but had accidentally ordered the dual pod.Do I regret the purchase? Absolutely NOT. The gauge is crisp and clear, not too bright, and very lightweight; almost to the point of feeling cheap.Just a word of caution: The wiring for the gauge is NOT the same as the diagram shown on the sales page. It has 2 extra wires (Switch and Dimmer)

Not bad as a starting place
I was looking for an electric temperature gauge with 270 degree sweep and a face marked in Celsius. This one fit those requirements and my desire for low cost. However - it has serious issues.#1 There is one power lead, so the lights turn on when the gauge is on. If it's wired to the dash lights, then the gauge is only on when the lights are on. If the gauge is wired to post-ignition, then the backlight won't turn off with the dash lights. Now this is probably a "feature" since the front glass is dark smoked.#2 The front glass is dark - so dark the gauge is unreadable without the backlight on. And it's not really bright enough for daylight and WAY to bright for night.I fixed both problems. I pried the chrome ring off the front which let me get inside. I cut a piece of clear plastic acrylic (plexiglass) to replace the smoked one. Now the gauge would be quite visible in daylight - but would be way, WAY to bright at night.Taking the gauge out of the case I was able to determine the backlight LEDs are connected with wires to the main circuit board - so I could have routed the LED "+" lead out the back of the gauge and used an external resistor to get the backlight to a useful brightness. But I dug a bit deeper and found that there are red LEDs for the needle and white LEDS for backlighting the face. I modified board so those are separate. I now had wires for ground, meter power, sensor, red LED, white LED. Using external resistor, I have the LEDs dim enough it works quite nicely at night, and with the clear front lens I don't need any lights during the day. After all this - it's a pretty nice gauge! With the stock sensor it does read a little bit hot.

Works pretty well
For my VW bug. Keeps an /almost/ accurate reading. I just need a reference close enough to make sure it's running okay

Doesn’t work right
Retaining ring can’t be used when installing in a gauge pod on pillar.
