Great
Great comic for kids

Interesting story
Good, but I wish this part more interesting, with a more clever villain. I don't know very well about comics because I read few of them, but as a fewer times I read, I enjoyed this part.

Interesting ideas, recycled execution
Formerly defeated villain the Hood (aka Parker Robbins) has escaped jail and decided to restore his power by collecting all of the Infinity Stones. A secret cabal made up of Iron Man, Reed Richards, Charles Xavier, Prince Namor, Stephen Strange, and Black Bolt thought they had securely hidden the stones on Earth, each member in charge of one stone. Robbins collects two of them and has a run in with the Red Hulk (aka General Thunderbolt Ross), who goes to the Avengers and alerts them of the situation (Stark's stone hasn't been stolen (yet)). The Avengers begin to investigate and Steve Rogers gets mad at Tony Stark for hiding the information about the stones from him. Joining up with the Secret Avengers and the New Avengers, the three groups go after the other stones before Robbins can reach them. The final story has Spider-Woman investigating a strange occurrence for S.W.O.R.D., the Sentient World Observation and Response Department. They deal with extraterrestrial problems and also have been off Steve Rogers's radar. Spider-Woman disappears during the mission, so a group of Avengers goes to rescue her, only to stumble on a secret cabal of super-intelligent villains who unwittingly bring a new problem back to Earth. While the main story has an interesting premise, the execution was just mediocre. There were no clever strategies or "wow" moments. The story is so overstuffed with heroes that no one really shines out other than Red Hulk who is clearly looking for some redemption from whatever bad stuff he did before. The Steve Rogers/Tony Stark conflict reads like a re-run of previous conflicts between them.Mildly recommended--I think I might be done with this run...there's too many other books out there that are more interesting to me.

Gems up in The Hood
The Heroic Age continues on as the Illuminat's "Hide the Inifinty Gems" gameplan has fallen apart and the Avengers must stop The Hood from gathering them all and trying to amass ultimate power. We get to see the defense measures that each Illuminati member went to in an attempt to protect the gem they were given. The Avengers and Illuminati expand their ranks. We also move the Wonder Man vs Avengers and Age of Ultron stories forward a little bit.Romita's art has never been my favorite but after the first story arc I adapted.

Good Stuff - a regular Avengers Tale...at last!
I was missing the Avengers doing any super heroics - after endless twists and turns over the years- the old group seems to be on track with some new dynamics. Steve Rogers playing the nobler-than-thou icon; Tony Stark being stealth and smarter than ever, the Illuminati showing up like the CIA of superheroes, Bendis and gang present a nice cast and a worthy subject - the Infinity Gauntlet. I classify this under "semi-epic" - it's got enough sprawl and ambition to make it a worthy addition to the cannon. My only comment is the Red Hulk, now the current Hulk flavor of the month - feels so detached from his real identity (none of that Bruce Banner-Hulk angst) and actually looks 25 years old in one particular frame...no doubt an error by the artist....the ending is a nice kicker and should play out well for the future which has by this review, already arrived....

Truly incredible writing. Volume 1 was unjustly criticized- what complaints could there be about this Volume. BMB and JRJr are a perfect writing/art combo

Enjoyable
Having dissed the first volume of this incarnation of the Avengers I almost didn't bother with this. But, what a change! The story rattles along, and although I'm not a great fan of JRJR I have to admit that the art suited the story structure very well. The continuation of the Illuminati storyline was a stroke of genius and really sold the story for me.Good to see Jessica Drew in the last story- the SWORD linkage being managed very well. All in all, much as I don't like or want the Red Hulk, this volume hangs together well and redeems the first volume for me!
