Quick but interesting book
The book is well written and relatively error free. It does a good job explaining British involvement in the east and why unchecked a company can cause a country to become involved in a quagmire.

Nice introduction if you want to begin understanding the impact of the East India Company on the subcontinent and the formation of the ‘Raj’

Quick w/o much detail
This a very condensed history of the company. It could have contained more detail; however, for a brief overview it is quite helpful

Brief history of Indian subcontinent
Lots of history in a very short or compressed way. Some time I felt it has been over simplified. But it touches most of the important facts. Is it possible to make 2 books from one ?I enjoyed reading this book a lot. I wish others will also enjoy reading it

Hourly History tells us what we should know
Hourly History’s story about The East India Company is fascinating. England was not a super power until 1588 when its Navy beat the Spanish Armada. Shortly thereafter, English merchants persuaded the government to do business with India, and The East India Company was born, although it did not have this name at that time. We read in this Hourly History book about what happened until the end of the company in 1857. We also read how the legacy of the company continued after 1857 when the British government took over the role of the company, both its business and its military, and Britain remained in control of India until just after World War II.

Super Short!
Beware. This "book" is really like a long essay. Super thin and short. So glad I bought my husband 2 other books on the East India Company for his birthday. It would have been so sad to just receive this one! I'll have to ask him what he thinks of the book content-wise.

They Had the East India Company, We Have Amazon
Decently written, not a five star expose', but one can learn a little bit about trade practices from yesteryear! the East India Company; were they evil, corrupt and too big for their britches? Possibly, but the fact is they blazed a trail in worldwide trade, but fell off the trolley along the way, believing they were all-powerful and not accountable to anyone or anything. We can all name present-day companies that may well fit that bill. That said, the lesson here is that a company's culture can ultimately push them out of business or enhance their image. There is still nothing that compares to advertising by word of mouth. The main detraction in this publication for me would be the length. I know it's supposed to be an Hourly History work, but about ten more pages could have been very beneficial, given the extensive time period covered here. Thank you Hourly History for all your efforts!

Succinct narrative
Overpriced, as this is not a book, and has no pictures, cartoons or drawings. It is a style of cliff notes.

Interesting
A very concise account. I learnt what the East India co was all about. I suppose it was involved in legal and illegal activities eg opium.A great read all in all.

Rápida introdução de um tema longo e complexo
Essa série é interessante para apresentar o assunto. A partir desse tipo de material a pessoa pode expandir à inúmeras leituras de 250 anos de história, e bem dinâmica e complexa.
