This is worth the price.
This razor is great. I enjoy the fact that it is sturdy. It is small and you do not have to handle the razor very much. I use it daily as a professional Master Barber and it has impressed me with its design and efficiency. I have used less expensive brands and more expensive brands and this is the best one by far in my 19 years experience. It is very difficult as a professional to cut someone with this razor.

Good for beginners!
I have pretty big hands and i can use this razor comfortable for its small size. This was my 1st straight razor/shavette I've ever used and i find it pretty easy to learn with and leaves a nice clean shave and washes off easy. It's also built pretty well, i was expecting it to be completely plastic but was surprised to find out it actually is mostly all steel except for the finger grip and inserts... So its not like your holding a cheap plastic feather thankfully it sorta has a tinny bit of weight unlike the aluminum model.I recommend buying a box of the longer straight blades that use the black insert for the whole length of the blade, the small half size blades that use the red insert are horrible to learn with the corners of the blade nick or dig into your skin and cut you all to hell... when I switched to the full length ones that came with the razor it was much more comfortable to use and haven't got cut yet. I'd say they last at least maybe 5 or 6 shaves before you should have to replace them depending on how course your hair is.

Excellent Tool
As much as I want to love and shave with straight blade razors (I own several), the contours, creases and every-which-way growth on my neck (and I'm sure my skill level) don't allow it to be a real option for me, although the shorter blade of the shavette makes it easier than the standard cut-throat razor. What I do love about this is that it allows precise control (down to the individual hair) for shaving and trimming around my mustache and goatee. Whether you use a DE or one of the multi blade razors (I find the DE gives a far superior shave) they don't make it easy to maintain a precise line. I use this every couple of days to shave those pesky little hairs that make your facial hair line look messy. The compact size and short blade length make it very easy to control no matter what angle you need and, since you can see the cutting edge, it eliminates the problem of going too far with your shaving razor. Stainless construction make it trouble-free to clean and maintain.

Noice
This is a really good choice if you want to get into the freaky subculture of straight-razor shaving. I mean, what kind of guy uses a single, naked sharp blade on his throat and face in this era of space-age 30-blade cartridge razors that will walk your dog for you? The kind of guy who doesn't want to get a second mortgage to buy razor blades and summon his often subdued bada$$ery, because, why not?If you've had a lot of practice with a DE razor, you won't have any problems with this razor, and you can still use all those DE blades you've been stockpiling for the last year or so. You just have to be a little more patient and slow, but you've already got the blade angle down, so there's nothing to it. It does shave even closer than the DE, I think. I swap back and forth between my Merkur Barber Pole and this razor. Now, if you want to jump from the Mach-5 or whatever they're called these days, you might want to rethink that decision or get a DE to practice with for a while. If you don't have blade angle and technique down, you're going to open up an artery and ruin your wife's monogrammed towels. Just sayin'. This is both an art and a skill that you don't learn overnight. But, if you want to save a lot of money and get an amazing shave, this is a good option. It might be a step toward getting really hardcore and entering the world of the traditional straight razor, which is a whole new level of manliness that I won't be getting to anytime soon.

It's a working shavette, worth trying.
I won't make this a review about wet-shaving. If you're looking into this item then you should already know that much.I will instead make a few points.1) This is the best quality shavette that I have used or seen used. I compared it to most other offerings on the market, and the fit/finish here is just better.2) it takes blades other than normal DE blades, but you do have to buy inserts and the other blades are hard to find so I've never tried it.3) I used this every other day or so for 2 years, and never had any issues. I changed blades every couple shaves, and have yet to notice any fatigue in the plastic blade holder.I do have a couple issues though:1) These are very light weight, so you will get a bit more "bounce" which causes more irritation. This seems to be normal for shavettes.2) The way that the blade is held means that getting a less aggressive angle on the blade can be difficult. I wish the plastic would taper down rather than being rounded.

Meh. Spend your money on a different shavette
This shavette didn’t come with the red insert, as advertised, so I can’t use my normal double sided safety razors. I’ll either have to buy the red insert, or buy some full sized razors for this. The plastic inserts feel cheap. I don’t anticipate them working for very long and they will probably need to be replaced. The plastic case that it came in was very cheap as well. There are less expensive shavettes out there that you’d be better off spending your money on.
