I read up some on doing the conversion and I know from years in the industry that Dorman makes good parts so I bought this one. For the 7.3 install I drilled the rivets to remove the bottom brackets because they won't fit between the ac condensor and raditor. Side from that, I slipped it right in between the two and it bolts right in on the bottom radiator side mount holes. Easy peasy. I plumbed this cooler in first so my transmission fluid flow comes hot from the transmission, through this cooler, then through the small stock cooler that is at the very front of the grill and stays coolest, and then back to the transmission. After pulling my 26' travel trailer 100 miles through hills, I can still put my hand on the outlet side of this cooler without burning myself, so I know it works good. My old tiny cooler would instantly steam water off if I poured water on it after a pull like that. This cooler works great, and I'm happy with the fit and finish as well. But mounting brackets all lined up and now my transmission runs cool even while towing. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very high quality!! *by N***. on August 13, 2024* This trans cooler is very high quality. I bought this to upgrade my 2003 F250 5.4 transmission cooler. This trans cooler is made in China but it looks great and the quality is definitely as good as OEM. It fits perfectly using the factory mounting points and bolts. You do need some larger diameter washers for the bottom mounts. You will see a large decrease in the fluid temp since it's almost 3 times larger. It's easy to install and can be replaced fully from the top just by removing the hood latch, a/c condenser brackets and radiator cover, but it is hard to get to everything that way. I like everything out of my way so I removed the bumper bar under the truck, the power steering cooler, grill, headlights, headlight/grill bracket and upper radiator support bar so I could fold the a/c condenser up on top of the engine without unhooking the a/c hoses. It takes longer this way but you can get to everything easily. You will need at least 3 feet of 1/2 hose and 3/8 to 1/2 hose adapters to install on earlier trucks like my 2003. I used the Gates 27065 hose. It's the perfect amount and is great quality hose. My cooler was damaged at the lower bracket but it was still useable so check yours very well for actual tube damage before installing. Also I noticed as I was pulling the rubber plugs off the cooler inlets that there was a vacuum in the cooler. You should hear the vacuum release as you pull off the first plug. If you hear the vacuum release you know that you have a good cooler that will not leak. I highly recommend this cooler.
