This release follows the success of the Ultra Lounge title, Mambo Fever. Packed with hot dance tracks, this cool compilation contains "Cha Cha D'Amour" by Dean Martin, "Recado Bossa Nova" by Laurindo Almeida, "The Magnificent Seven" by Tito Rodriguez and "You're My Thrill" by George Auld, plus many more digitally remastered gems.

Some of Music Used in Dance Piece "Minus 16"
I recently saw an Alvin Ailey performance of Ohud Naharin's "Minus 16" dance piece and it uses a couple of the tracks on this lounge CD to great effect. mainly Dean Martin's version of "Sway" and the John Buzon Trio track. Anyone who has caught a performance of this work will probably want to run out and buy this CD. Particularly "Sway" is so infectious you'll want to reexperience the pure joy and fun the music by itself provides.

thoroughly enjoyable
This is a totally fun CD filled with 1950's era cheesy music - grab a martini put on this CD and laugh to Dean martin, Perez Prado, the John Buzon Trio and the Rinky Dinks.

Another great Ultra Lounge CD.
I am trying to get the entire collection of these. Great exotica compilations. The transfer was well done.

A Great Way to Re-Issue Your Back Catalogue
The compilers at Capitol certainly hit on a winning formula with the "Ultra Lounge" series. I've picked up Volume 4 as well as this one, and both are equally listenable, although the one under review has more vocal content which I think gives things a bit of a lift. This music transports me back to the era when TV shows like "77 Sunset Strip" were all the rage. There's a wide variety of instrumentation - the Hammond Organ sound on "So Nice", and Laurindo Almeida's guitar and ensemble on "Recado Bossa Nova" are outstanding, and I love the tight harmony vocals on "You're My Thrill". Yma Sumac's vocal range was phenomenal, "Gopher Mambo" being a prime example. I well remember the film "The Magnificent Seven" and this Latin version of the theme is great! The "Cha Cha" in the title is misleading - there are various Latin tempos here. What these tracks have in common is a tight, crisp delivery and top-flight musicianship.Excellent sleeve notes, including how to mix a "Margarita" and a "Cuban Apricot"!It scares me that some of these tracks are over 50 years old, but for me they haven't dated at all.Whether you're a dancer or a listener, go out and get this - you won't be disappointed.
