The Knox Gear cooler is the perfect travel companion. Save money and a mess by not having to buy ice when traveling. You wont need to stop on your trip for a cold drink. The cooler goes to standard refrigerator temperature of 40F so your food will stay cold and wont spoil. The cooler can fit a large 2 liter soda bottle and plenty of food with its 27 quart capacity. You can also with a flip of the switch use it to keep food hot. The plug is attached and goes into a compartment so the whole unit is one piece.

Unique and great product. It comes just as advertised.
I've used other coolers in the past. I got tired of carrying around an additional 120v to 12v converter. Modern cars come with both 12v and 120v outlets with the inverter provided by the car manufacturer. On all that I've seen, only the 120V outlet shuts off when the engine is shut off.I was tired of having to carry both items into the hotel every night. This is the only product that solves that problem that I could find on amazon.Early reviews questioned whether the product came with both 12v and 120v power options. The picture has been updated to show both and I received exactly what was pictured. I've tried it and it works perfect. As more auto manufacturers continue to offer 120v options, I'm sure other manufacturers with incorporate this feature into their products. Right now, I've moved the 12v plug out of the way as I will never use it.I very happy with the design and capacity. It's slightly heavier that the competitors coolers but since it really incorporates two products, It makes sense. I just received it and haven't stress tested it yet so I can't report on product durability.

Works but pretty ordinary. get cooler and gel packs.
Tested this at home plugged into the wall.1. Cools to only ~ 25 degrees below ambient.2. Cooling time is ~ 1 hour. Once switched off, it heats up pretty quick as well ~ 1 hour. (insulation is ordinary)is suitable to keep fresh produce cool in car i.e. at ~ 60-70 degrees when car is parked at 90 degrees. Fridge is 37 degrees so this is NOT as good as a fridge even when plugged in. And usefull when you are going from car-->motel-->car. (since it comes with neat car and 110v plugs and organized.).Not suitable is you leave it in your car and switched off for over 1 hour. i.e. camping, day trips, beach trips. you are better off with a proper cooler +ice or ice/gel packs. If you need it for camping trips over 2-3 days and need to keep food/icecream then you should get a compressor fridge/freezer.See the temperature charts below.

Very Cool Cooler
Purchased this for a long car trip we are making. I tested it out when it arrived and it is solidly made, plenty of room for a 2 litre bottle in addition to lots of other snacks. The fan is also pretty quiet and smooth sounding. I imagine it would add a slight white noise to a hotel room overnight but I bet the hotel room's air conditioning or heating would be louder. Great design to hide the cords for the wall and car in the lid - keeps it all neat and from getting lost or separated. Some people have said it is not meant to cool things down that are not already cool, but I placed one refrigerated 16 oz bottle in it and three or four room temperature 12 oz. cans of soda in it and ran it for two hours. The results were that the refrigerated bottle stayed cold and the room temperature soda cans also were significantly cold to the touch. I haven't had a chance to test it for a longer amount of time, but this makes me suspect that if you start off with an ice pack in there or any cold item, that it will help cool down the other items as well. I will try to come back and add to my review after our trip. I have not used it for heating anything and really don't plan to.UPDATE: Used it on a 3 week car trip across the country and it worked fabulously keeping our items cold. Was simple to unplug and bring into the hotel each night and bring back to car in the morning. We always had cold drinks and snacks/sandwiches available so didn't have to rely on all road stop junk food. Again, I have not used it for heating so can't comment on that, but as a car cooler - it is great.

Good value for the price.
I bought this to use with a small PV system while camping. It gets down to 40 degrees and holds that temperature with an ambient temperature of about 70 degrees. I added a shell of 2" foam board and the temperature got down to 35 degrees with an ambient temperature of 70. It held that temperature for several hours after being unplugged. This is a great little cooler for the money: AC/DC built in, efficient at most 58 watts, quiet.

Change of heart, 2nd time is a charmer.
It seems I may have talked too soon. I previously reviewed this item and gave it 1 star, since it did not cool fast enough. Well, after giving a second try. I’ve actually decided to keep it. A few things here if you are considering this cooler. One: It will work best if you “pre-cool” this unit at least a night before. Two: Items should be cold before putting them into cooler. This cooler does keep beer, water and even ice packs COLD. Third: I suggest packing this cooler with a few frozen ice packs to help keep drinks extra cold. Overall, this item is worth the $$ and hassle, if you will.Lastly, If you are buying and expecting this unit to be ICE COLD from the get-go, rethink before buying. It takes a full day to “pre-cool”

GREAT DESIGN, CORD MANAGEMENT
I researched the various cooler units for my Honda CR-V for days, and chose this unit for it's size, price and design quality. 4 months and two road trips to San Francisco later and I can report that this unit works like a charm. While not a true refrigerator, it can best be described as an enhanced electrical "ice" chest. It works best to keep already cold beverages rather than for cooling room temperature beverages. With the addition of a "Blue Ice" already frozen unit on the bottom, adding ice cold cans from my refrigerator cooled from the night before, we had ice cold beverages for the entire day.

And i felt i should mention that a/c cools better than d/c using a solar panel
Decided to return the item for i found a cooler that uses only 48 watts and will work with my 100 watt solar panel! Was going to return because it uses 5 amps or more when cooling and a 100 watt solar panel just isn't a right power source. However, i decided i could live with that problem because i do appreciate the price and convenience of having the cooler. And i felt i should mention that a/c cools better than d/c using a solar panel. Now if the unit fails within the first year i most certainly will change my rating!
