I think the paper could be better… it doesn’t dry clean… the water bleeds a lot so if you’re writing and want to take a look at a sentence you’ve written, the first characters you wrote are no longer legible. My kids have the Melissa and Doug water-ink for children, a similar concept to this, and this doesn’t happen. In order for the bleeding not to happen, you have to remove almost all the water from the brush tip - which makes writing a lot less enjoyable as the brush is now practically dry and scratching the paper. Another issue I have is that the paper came with some grey/black marks on them. I’m guessing it was signs of wear or tear, probably during shipping - these don’t make the paper unusable but does make the calligraphy less attractive.However, it does what it says. Write with water, eventually it will dry.

I bought this so that I can practice my calligraphy without wasting ink or paper. The best part is that it's portable and I can use it almost anywhere. All I need it done water and I can practice calligraphy. Of course, I take care to not saturate the mats with too much water, as this reduces the longevity of the cloth. Occasionally, I have someone notice that I'm using these mate and they get curious. Inadvertently, it also works as a neat conversation piece, and motivates me to practice and improve my craft.

Thus far, these are may favorite practice mats. The characters turn black when painted with water l, and dry in minutes!! It's a genius way to practice, especially for people who are new to the art and Chinese character writing. I'd highly recommend these to any beginner/novice in need of practice without wasting good paper in the process.

Like the product but translation into English from Chinese is needed. Have to guess at what is being communicated. Unsure how the accompanying booklets are to be used as it appears it is aimed at children learning to write in Chinese and since I am an adult and not Chinese I am figuring it out as I go along. I love the disappearing ink, it really helps in writing over letters.

Works well. The water produces a dark stroke like ink and the mao bi responds well to pressure. I also really like the guide for making the calligraphy strokes.We use the set to help our 7 year old son to learn character recognition and stroke order.I didn't give it 5 stars because the packaging caused a permanent fold in the "parchment" that makes it difficult to use the first column. I love practicing with this item. It only takes water and dries quickly. I save a lot on paper. I’m a beginner and mess up a lot. So perfect for me.

Used them to write Chinese characters on sugar cookies. They worked great!!!

I love this! It is so fun to use it again and again. It is calming and relaxing to watch the water turn to black ink on the scroll, then to watch it disappear as it dries. Great product!

持ち歩いて、暇な時間になぞっています。紙ではなく布なので皺を気にせず運べます。

なぞる為の字が、とても、はっきりしていて、綺麗し分かりやすいです。乾くのも早いです。楷書に大切な九成宮を、このような形で練習出来るのは、有難いです。

想像していたものと違いました。少しガッカリです。

書聖王義之と並ぶ顔真卿の多宝塔碑、碑文をベースにしています。個人的には王義之のほうが好きなのですが、顔真卿も古典の臨書としては外せません。筆と水皿とリーフレット付き。リーフレットには日本語はありません。使い方といくつか中国の書家の見本がのっています。これは眺めるだけでも学ぶところがあります。マジックペーパーはへんやつくりを学べるものが二枚。正方形のマスだけのものが１枚。あとは顔真卿のお手本が載っています。水を含めた筆で描けます。一時間もしないで消えてしまうので、簡易的な練習にいいです。丸まっているので文鎮が必要。丸めないで保存できればいいのですが、けっこう大きいので、使うときにはある程度のスペースが必要です。筆は大したことない、と思っていたのですが、けっこう書きやすい。保存するときはよく洗って水分を取ってから、キャップを外して保存しないとカビがはえます。水だけなのであまり心配はいらないとは思いますが念のため。

水筆練習セットとしては本格的です。簡単なガイドブックが同梱されており、中身はオール中国語ですが運筆のコツなどが写真入りで解説されていて何となく分かります。歴代の書聖の書も掲載されていて好みの書体を見つけることができます。なお、練習シートは唐代に活躍した書聖・顔真卿が手本として採用されています。比較的スタンダードな楷書だと思います。数シートあるので、なぞってみっちり練習できます。トメや払いなどすべての要素を含む「永」の字が基本とされるのは日本と同じで取っつきやすいです。水筆でなのに本当の墨で書いたかのような発色と書き味でやる気になります。準備や後片付けも格段に楽ちんで、毎日手軽に続けられます。
