Henckels Classic 6-Inch Utility Knife, Razor-Sharp, German Engineered

I have at least a dozen very high-quality knives. I bought this one for the size. Very quickly, it’s become my favorite knife! It holds a great edge, it’s easy to sharpen, the tip is fantastic for cutting anything. It’s not too big, it’s not too small. It’s perfect. If my house was burning down, I believe I would run into the kitchen and grab it to keep it safe from the flames. I have a few other Henckel knives, I love them all, but I’ve never loved any knife as much as I love this one. I often use it for cutting foods that a different shape knife would be better. But the different shaped knife isn’t better, because nothing is as good as this knife.

They have a variety of knives, stamped, forged, being the most common. The stamped knives are solid. The forged collection are the only ones I’ll buy for my kitchen moving forward, replacing my Cutco collection. Yes, if you can hone your own blade these are better than Cutco. If you can’t Cutco can sharpen them and send them back. Kinda beta.. if you can sharpen an hone yourself these are the best kitchen knives on the market. This is my third order of this knife. Before, I wrote that this knife looks like a high quality German knife. It has a very nice grip, is very ergonomic. It also was THE ONLY knife of this size anywhere on the internet. It is one inch deep, which is very hard to find in a 6 inch knife. Most of the deep knives are much longer and much deeper, like meat cleavers. I wanted one just to cut Honeydew, primarily ( I am afraid of the much bigger knives) I needed this size, substantial but not huge. In my first review I wrote that every time I make that first cut into a melon, I have to push hard. I thought that the end, the tip, should be sharper. But after having this knife ( now three orders of it), I feel that it is an excellent knife. It is very high quality for the money. I am now used to using it. My family members like it so much that I have now ordered this third one. I decided this is the best knife on the market for this size. I recommend it very highly now.

Packaging is good, the knife arrived in perfect condition. Knife is very sharp right out of the box. Feels light in my hand, nicely balanced. The handle is perfect for medium sized male hands, probably a little small for men with large hands. I think most women would find this a nice fit. Well made, with a nice overall finish and solid construction. Should last a lifetime. UPDATE! Still five stars! After one month using this knife every day for cutting anything, fruits, vegetables, meats, and product packaging, this knife is just as sharp as the first day I used it. I use this knife for anything and everything in the kitchen, it’s become my go to knife. After a month of continuous use I haven’t had to sharpen it at all, not even touching the edge up on a steel.

I have used Henckels knives for decades. These are super sharp and as wonderful as they have ever been.

These Henckel knives are beautifully made however the steel in the blade is very hard consequently is hard to get sharp and to keep sharp. The best knife (dirk) I ever saw was hand made out of a file. My grandfather, a barber, carried it during the KKK days in Yoakum, Texas in the 1920/30's and to this day is as sharp as a razor. Anyway, these are great knives for cutting vegetables etc. Fits in my hand nicely and is easy to clean. Pay the extra $ for the quality, bar the knife going down a disposal it will last a lifetime with normal use. Henckel Co., soften your steel just a tad and you will get 5 stars forever on this knife from everyone!!!!!! BTW, the art of sharpening knives was passed down to me by my father so it's not the sharpeners fault. Maybe they come in softer grades of steel you may want to check on that. I carry a Sog Twitch II pocketknife and I could shave with it if necessary.

I use this more than any other of my knives. It's a good size, is easy to control, and it has stayed sharp.
