MUCH better than the 1971 Michael Caine version
This is another movie that has had some pretty terrible reviews... but I personally love this film. It didn't make a big splash in the box office... but nonetheless it's a SOLID performance. Includes Stallone and Mickey Rourke. The story follows along with that of the 1971 version, but has a MUCH better ending.. more fitting for the character. Great cast... great acting... I've never understood the reviews... I won't give it a 5 star rating because its not THAT good... but still very well executed.

A civilized version of Carter, & it’s a Decent thriller
Decent thriller, Stallone was the right choice to play Jack carter, And even sports the new look with the goatee & sharp suit makes him look more cooler and more bad ass this could’ve been a much better movie if Stallone was hands-on involved or with a better director. Still this movie has some solid moments in particular with the Stallone and the supporting characters action heroes by the number and the action scenes are decent enough, Stallone is the only reason in the movie that the Movie holds, The scenes with Stallone and make it work are well played as will as Michael Caine and Rachel Lee cook , The background music are nice. The only reason that this movie has a bad reputation because of the superior original from the 1970s with the same title starring Michael Caine which is considered one of the best British crime thrillers in history.Yes this version is inferior but it’s not bad it’s good entertainment and it’s decent thanks to Sylvester Stallone‘s presence. The audio and video presentation of this Blu-ray is excellent.I suggest you give it a rent before purchasing it if you’re a diehard Stallone fan this should be an easy blind buy.

Stallone plays the tough guy well looking for revenge
Get Carter was an iconic 1970s film with Michael Caine that was known for bringing realism to the crime genre. In 2000 it was remade with Sylvester Stallone and included Caine. The story is based upon the original where Carter (Stallone) who is an enforcer for a gangster returns home to his brother’s funeral. There he tries to find out what happened, which brings all kind of trouble. The movie got bashed by the critics when it came out, but it’s actually pretty good. Stallone plays the tough guy well. He has the right tone and look. The story also provides motivation for his anger. It’s actually better than the original which I never thought was that special.C

Cult Classic
Totally misunderstood and underestimated (i.e by the reviewer from Variety) who didnt understand the camera movement so he called it unnecessary. What is most interesting about this film is what the director does with the sound and camera movement -- it adds to the jarring effect of the characters who live on adrenalin and not introspection. The original Carter seemed like an aimless twit who gets killed and learns nothing from his experiences. Stallone's character is redeemed by his crusade but doesnt necessarily live longer than the original Carter. Before we call Stallone's Carter moral lets look at the way he relishes beating someone to a pulp. He seems to be using his crusade to avenge his brother as a way of assuaging the guilt he feels over being such a badass, not really much better than the Mickey Rourke character who with his new plastic surgery seems like an excuse for Frankenstein. The Director doesnt have a [...] for "film school pyrotechnics" but instead tries to do what a director is supposed to, let the visuals help tell the story from Carter's point of view. This is one that will be shown and discussed in film school for a long time, not a typical gangster epic but instead something really innovative and fresh.

NOT A PATCH ON ORIGINAL
NOT A PATCH ON ORIGINAL. Extremely weak B film. I expect SS agreed to this for a new kitchen or some such. Hard to believe I actually watched to the end.

Not as good as the 70's version
Not as good as the 70's version, which stared Michael Caine. The storyline is very loose and Sly's performance did not compensate for it.
