Where these are hung up the yucky odors go away. No perfume masking, just gone :)
Wife wrote this: We have definitely liked these! I just ordered 3 more car sized ones and 3 pairs of the smaller ones. I figured the car sized ones would be good in a single smallish room, much like a car which has its doors opened a bunch. The large one in the car has removed a lot of odors since it was installed four months ago. . . Let's face it, sometimes humans create noxious fumes and everyone is stuck in the car for hours with them. The car no longer stinks! Yea! We have not put it out in the sun. The instructions say to put it out in direct sunlight for an hour a month. It has been continuously hanging on the back of a headrest for 4 months. The car gets so hot when parked that, perhaps, it is rejuvenating itself. Maybe sun through the windows is enough. We traveled and used two of the smaller ones to remove odors from our closets and suitcases when we were unable to do laundry for two weeks. Very successful! Then, we came home to what smelled like a mouse had died somewhere in our Great Room. We tried to localize the smell but still cannot figure out from where the handful of flies are hatching. We never have had more than a handful of flies in the house all year. Lately, however, there are around 3 or more buzzing around or lying dead someplace. The flies make us pretty sure that something died somewhere, but where?????. The AC is on so the air is moving and we cannot really localize the smell. I suddenly remembered the two small odor eliminators I had put into a thick sealed plastic bag. I brought them out yesterday and hung them up in the section of the room where the smell is strongest, near stuffed cabinets, a desk and full bookshelves. This morning the smell was much less. So I just ordered more of these for other trouble spots in the house and cars. We really like the fact there is no synthetic perfume left wafting around to cause us to sneeze.

Amazing
Works great in my vehicle. Since I am a smoker and believe I am trying to quit for awhile now but am tired of my small vehicle having a Oder so I purchased this to try and it works amazing! Soaks all the bad odors up! Great product and purchase all sorts of different styles for my home(I don’t smoke in my home fyi)but just for everyday normal odors!

Works great, but gets dirty easily, even with little to no handling.
Many of my friends smoke and I noticed that my car was beginning to smell like a big old ashtray. After a couple of days, the odor was gone. That being said, I'll gladly purchase another when this one no longer absorbs odors. There are only a couple of issues that I have with this. I purchased the beige one to match my car's interior, but now I wish I had chosen the black one. The fabric gets dirty easily even though its not touched. I'm not sure how to clean it without getting it wet. Also, the blue adjustable cord is difficult to adjust. If the cord had a layer of something smooth or made of a smoother material, then it might be easier to adjust the size of the loop. These issues don't bother me enough to prevent me from purchasing it again, though.

Somewhat effective
My car 13 year old, 110k+ mile car is starting to get a bit of a moldy, funky smell. I've washed and shampooed and vacuumed to no avail. I really all the good reviews and thought I'd give Purgo a try. It does absorb some of the smell but not all of it. I'd say it's about 70% effective. Worth the 20 dollars? I'm not sure, your mileage may vary depending on the severity of the offending smell.

Highly recommend for reducing lingering cigarette smoke smell
Even better than I expected. I'm a light cigarette smoker and smoke in my car 1-2 times a day. Even though I always have the window down and my hand halfway out the window, there is no denying that my car almost always smelled like an ashtray. I'm in the process of quitting and have been struggling to break my association of smoke while driving so I figured that sprucing up the inside of my car would help. After trying a slew of really gross overly fragrant air "fresheners" I had all but given up on getting rid of the lingering smoke smell which had faded into an unpleasant musky scent.Enter PURGGO. Was a late night impulse purchase - but one I certainly don't regret. Install (if you can even call it that) was easy peasy, just take off the headrest of the seat and make sure the loop of the PURGGO is surrounding the headrest base before putting it back on. DONE! While I can't say this has eliminated the smell entirely (what I believe to be an unrealistic expectation) - it has made a noticeable difference. I thought it might just be my car airing out but I caved and smoked one cigarette in my car yesterday & this morning it was hardly noticeable.Definitely recommend, although might be mildly irritating to backseat passengers if the front seat is pushed far back. Certainly not enough to make a ride uncomfortable, but could get in the way if someone was trying to read or do any activity with their hands in front of them. A non-issue for me, but worth mentioning.

Did NOT work for me. Waste of money.
Disappointed . My car developed a leak, which then caused a mildew like odor. The cause of the leak was repaired by the dealer, all water vacuumed out, pieces of the floor board under the mats and carpet pulled out, placed in the sun (during a heat wave) for days to ensure they were dry.I, like many other did not want to use conventional air fresheners, I want the odor gone and this product - PURGGO Car Air Freshener sounded like it would do what I wanted. It was advertised to be able to absorb the odor and last 1 year.It doesn't absorb the odor. Can't say if it lasts 1 year, because I haven't had it that long. (about 1-2 months). I followed all the directions and thatmildew like odor is still there. I will leave it in the vehicle, maybe they meant that it takes a year to begin working.
