Sharkbanz

I had the same problems as Jay and Diane - after a few years of use, the product is coming apart and corroding and will soon be unwearable.I contacted sharkbanz.com by email. Their Brand Manager replied within 24 hours and my replacement is on its way on very favorable terms. The company has sterling customer support.Thankfully, I can't say whether the device repels sharks, but I can say I feel safer in the ocean with it on my ankle.Update: My new Sharkbanz 2 has arrived. Much improved product. Softer rubber strap which is easier to put on and take off (which I do with one hand to keep my Garmin watch away from the magnet). The magnet seems stronger. Appearance improved. I don't notice it's on my ankle, and I use it for my regular exercise swimming in the ocean as well as snorkeling.

Sharkbanz is a great product! I sky dive frequently and after seeing the documentary sharknado I felt I needed to take some extra precautions when I dive. This band gives me total peace of mind and I use it almost every week. Not a single shark spotted... Thank you sharkbanz :)

I've have only used this product 3 or 4 times while out surfing and it has this metallic stuff leaking out of it and it won't come off and sticks to the band. I was going to return this over a week ago and thought I would give it another chance, but missed the deadline.So, I'm stuck with it like dog poo on my shoe. I should have returned it when I had the chance! Save your $ and it doesn't guarantee tto protect against great whites which attack from underneath and far away. Waste of $!

Not sure if it really works, but it's cute, and my diver husband hasn't encountered any sharks-- either Sharkbanz does work or he's been lucky not to come across any sharks :P But based on my own "research" prior to buying this from other review sites, it seem like it does work. Also, it sells a little cheaper here compared to dive shops.

It does appear that this product actually repels shark. It is a regular event in the Gulf Of Mexico off tampa Florida to encounter overly friendly shark. The first time a bull shark came in close and wanted the fish that I had speared he turned his head about five feet away and swam away. This happened four more time over the next two months. Each time the shark jerked it's head to the side almost like they ran into and invisible wall. I don't think it was my imagination. I have had many chose shark encounters throughout the years and I have never scene a shark change his mind and give up on a bloody fish. I told a friend about my encounter and he wanted to try it out for himself. He returned my Sharkbanz along with a good story. His experience was very similar to my own. He told me about an aggressive shark speeding toward him and quickly changing direction when encountering the field given off by the Sharkbanz. Light weight and easy to dive with. Good product.

We'll see in about a week if it is worth a squat. Honest to goodness, it really is just a silicon band with a huge magnet in it. That's it. Seems like you could affix a strong magnet to just about anything to accomplish the same thing. Of course, I think it's a little snake-oily, but my wife is terrified of sharks and I bought this to ease her fears.

Well so far my boyfriend has not been bitten by any sharks! In regards to the actual fit and comfort of the band he really likes it. It is not too bulky and it easy to put on and take off, just like a watch. He loves the color because it blends into his blue wetsuit.he wears it on the outside of his ankle so it doesn't ding the board and so far he hasn't had any problems with it.

Search for a video called "Sharkbanz Test" by Terra Australis on YouTube. They stuck a dead fish and a Sharkbanz together on a stick, left it in an area frequented by sharks, and filmed what happened. First a shark ate most of the fish, then 2 minutes later the same shark came back and ate and then spat out the Sharkbanz, then 3 minutes later it came back and ate the rest of the fish.The manufacturer of Sharkbanz posted a comment saying it wasn't a fair test, because the Sharkbankz has to be moving to generate an electrical field, and because the water was clear and the shark could see the fish - instead of being unable to see well and relying on its electrical sense.Whether or not you think the test was fair, and whether or not you agree with their explanation, clearly the effectiveness of the Sharkbanz can vary depending on the environment and circumstances. The "Shark Repellent Bible" reports that other tests have shown that magnet effectiveness depends on the species of shark, the strength of the magnet (stronger wasn't always better), and the distance from the shark (closer was better).I guess if I were in water where sharks were a risk, I would consider using a Sharkbanz since it probably can't hurt, but I certainly wouldn't rely on it either.

Haven’t seen any sharks which is good. But all have expanded and self destructed. Would expect much better build quality at the price charged and given they’re meant to use in the sea
