so this tent truly goes up as easily as it claims
I bought this to keep my infant son out of the sun (that sounds weird), ha ok, so this tent truly goes up as easily as it claims! I only used it once because we were only able to go to the beach once last summer but it was well worth it.Lets get into the pros/cons:Pros:1) Very easy set up and break down.2) Pretty sturdy.3) perfect size for an adult and small child.4) NO TENT POLES TO THREAD! its all together you just pop it up and secure it. I was siting with my wife and my son was inside this tent and next to us a a couple with their small son and the mom and chile were standing in the sun waiting for the dad to get his tent assembled. he was there struggling to try and get the poles threaded through the tent sleeves. I felt bad for him and he was visibly pissed. We even offered to let them put their son in out tent while he assembled his, they said "thank you but we're ok". about ten minutes later, they left because he couldn't get the tent assembled. That made me feel even better about purchasing this pop up tent.Cons:1) It would be nice if it had a front flap or something to create shade on the front opening. I just used a few small clamps and secured a large beach towel, BINGO! instant shade.2) It comes with stakes and you can also fill up the small bags that are attached to the bottom of the structure with sand...don't bother with that. A strong gust of beach wind will pick it up like a kite!. Do your self a favor and get some of those long heavy duty tent pegs (I'm sure if you do an amazon search you'll find them here) and get your self a rubber mallet. I always bring a rubber mallet with me to any picnic/beach outings, its a breeze using it to pound stakes into the ground rather than hand pushing/stomping/looking for a rock! That's about it. There are so many options for popup shelters like this one and everyone has their favorite. I did a lot of research and spoke to a few people before deciding to buy this model. so far I'm satisfied. One more note: you should definitely put this together at home just to see and learn how it gets properly assembled before you actually take it any where for actual use. then you'll look like a pro, and isn't that what its all about! Ha! Seriously, its a great little shady structure.

Convenient but not so shady
We just used this canopy for a week long beach vacation. It is extremely light and easy to transport in the included bag. Setup and takedown were amazingly simple with the sand pockets keeping it in place. We didn't need the stakes, and I can see that they would only work in a setup on dry ground. My only criticism is that it provides very little shade between 12-4, when the sun is directly overhead and shade is most needed. It works great in the morning or late afternoon, although you might have to have the opening away from the beach in the morn on the east coast beaches. Unexpectedly, it is a great toy when set up in our living room or screen porch for my twin grandsons.

Light weight, quick and easy setup/take down
This tent is great for use on the beach. It is lightweight and compact, and can easily be stowed in a suitcase for travel. It is extremely quick and easy to set up and take down. We use it to keep our twin babies out of the sun and having a floor keeps sand from the towels they sleep on. Having pockets that can be filled with sand to weigh the tent down in combination with four stakes keeps the tent up, even in fairly strong winds.Although it offers a decent amount of shade, the sides are made from mesh letting the sun in, and the rear is a solid piece of fabric. As a result, we wind up having to rotate the tent as the sun moves throughout the day, which isn't a big deal as long as there's enough room on the beach. I would have rated this 5 stars if it had the ability to cover up (part of) the side mesh, e.g. via a zippered flap, and a similar flap in the rear to allow wind circulation (on the East Coast, the sun and wind typically come from the same direction, i.e. the ocean, which can make it very warm inside the tent). However, that would obviously increase the weight.

Works as advertised
My wife and I bought this for our 6 month old as we headed for vacation on the south jersey shore...we packed it in to our car and drove before even opening the package. The first visit to the beach, on the beach, was the first time I took the tent out of the carry bag. It took me about 5 minutes to figure out how to unfold the stakes, and pop the top to secure. It was very easy and intuitive. We didn't use the stakes, just packed the corner bags full of sand, and it was as simple as that. Four days on the beach, including a couple of days with strong wind gusts, and we did not have a problem. The tent construction seems durable, we're hoping to get many years out of it. The sides of the tent have adequate ventilation to allow some air circulation, but as you can imagine it does get warmer than if you were outside the tent - this was completely tolerable in 85F heat. We did turn the tent as the sun moved, again very easy to do once people are out of the tent. Since you're at the beach, count on sand getting into the tent - not a ton - but enough to have to shake out prior to packing back up (every tent is going to have this problem with kids running around). Dismantling was easy once you understand the mechanism...remove sand from bags, tilt and shake residual sand from floor, unpop the top, fold the legs up. Lastly...if you've every bought an item (sleeping bag, tent, etc) that does not fit back into the storage bag once you've used you know how frustrating that is. This tent fits PERFECTLY back into the bag. When your 6 month old and wife have had enough of the beach, and quick pack up time is critical, this is a great tent for a "quick eject". I would/will buy again.

JUNK
Easy to put up, when it came time to taking it down the hubs or whatever would not pull apart like the instructions said they would. Ended up awkwardly dragging it back to our room from the beach then throwing it into the dumpster since I couldn't get it folded back up to get into our car. Money down the drain.
