A commercial grade brewer scaled down for home use
I have been making cold brew for several years using glass jars and a funnel/sieve paper towel filter setup because I always thought the cold brew makers I’d see on the market were either too complicated for such a simple task or did not provide the quantity of coffee I prefer. This model produces up to 2L at a time with much less volume loss in the brewing process than my homemade setup. This is a huge plus to me as the strength of the finished product is much less diluted and 2L of coffee will last me up to two full weeks at a time. Plus when I need to start a new batch, the brewing container can be filled and brewing while the pitcher may still have a days worth of coffee in the fridge which means no off days between batches! I was mostly drawn to this product because this company manufactures and sells commercial sized units for cold brew and this model uses the same simple mechanics but scaled down for home use. Also the company is a truly a small business operating out of the great state of Wyoming. The filters are a bit pricey and proprietary as far as I can tell, but the ease of cleanup and quality of the end product (almost no sediment in my batches so far) make the expense with it to me. For those looking for a brewing guide: So far I have found a ratio of 100g to 1L of water to be to my personal preference when using medium to light roast coffee with the batch brewing for 15-17 hours or so. I usually pour this over 4-5 large ice cubes in the morning which slowly dilutes the coffee to a very nice strength for my taste.

We love it!
Old review below: change in stars because customer service was the best. Sent me my top brewer lid. I’m sure the correspondence email went to my husband and he has been working a lot of overtime being an essential employee. He loves this coffee brewer. I always make sure he has coffee on hand. I want to love it, but it’s missing a piece. The brewer snap on lid. So I’ve been trying various ways to cover it. I’ve used Saran Wrap, gallon bags, a pot lid and a Tupperware lid. I’ve used it already 3 times (Saran doesn’t work) and the flavor is amazing. We set our grinder a little more coarse than regular coffee brew grind. I measure out the my 1/2 pound on a digital scale and use a brew called Love Buzz from equal exchange. It’s smooth and just perfect without any flavors. Eventually I would love to buy more. I just need that pesky snap on lid because the fruit flies are also trying to enjoy the cold brew. We’ve tried everything we can think of to keep them out. If they land in, extra protein?

Just what I needed
I have been using this with great results. I use this to make Cold Brew Coffee. I use multiple filters in unison with the Fiber-Filter Disks that come with the unit ... the design of the bottom of the Brew Barrel allows for them all to fit in the same molded hole. Whether they designed it to accommodate multiple filters or not doesn't matter ... the fact that I can has reduced a timely second micro-filtration I used to do with separate equipment and now saves me a lot of time. The only "suggestion" (not a complaint) would be for the collection container to be wider than the brew barrel as the brew barrel can get condensation sweat and it drips onto the surface below (counter/bench/fridge-shelf/etc). I completely endorse this product and will be ordering a bigger unit. Thank you Brewista!

Yes it's plastic. That's a a good thing.
My favorite coffee shop uses the larger Pro version so when I needed a new cold brewer I decided to give this one a try. This is not as fancy but it gets the job done. Although the valve looks primitive it works with no leaks and I'd give the brewer five stars. The carafe a bit lower. Both the carafe and it's lid have small areas making cleaning fiddly. Also, they do nest, but not well. The carafe does not sit level in the brewer. Overall brewer size is about a gallon and it fits easily in the back. The lid snaps on firmly and gives me a sense of comfort that my coffee is protected from the rest of the contents. I've made two batches. The PLA filter allowed enough residue through the secondary filter in the bottom is a requirement for me. The paper filter meets my needs without. Both drained in a minute or a bit over. Cleanup is trivial. Lift bag, drop in trash. Done. The brewer holds 2 liters at the top of the handle and 3.75 liters all the way to the top. I'm considering making a 3 liter batch next time. Finally, my title. After spending 15 minutes cleaning the floor and still finding one last piece of glass with my toe I decided plastic was safer for me than glass.

Great coffee easy-to-use
This product is much like the toddy I had but it's more convenient because you don't have to fool with the rubber stopper. I don't use the paper bags but bought a cloth cotton bag that I can reuse over and over. I just rinse it out and hang it up to dry. Also, after I if drained all the coffee and washed the container, I insert the filter upside down feel the container with water and let it drain through the filter to clean it. I didn't rinse the filter under the faucet and if like the toddy I will get a lot more use out of the filter then just three times as suggested.

IF YOU LOVE TO SAVE $$$ AND LOVE COLD BREW YOUR GONNA LO
Personal use, this system delivers barisrista quality cold brew with minimum clean up! I order localcally roasted toddy ground expresso from my barristo on the corner for $10.00, add water it steeps overnight, drips into pitcher @ 2 hrs. (Use grounds around flower beds)I buy syrups and Frappuccino' mix at the local grocery supply store! My iced or blended triple shots cost $2.00 or less depending on which drink I am having!

For Professionals Maybe?
I really wanted to fall in love with this coffee brewer, but I'm not sure it was made for me. My guess is that it is perhaps meant more for a commercial setting, like a coffee shop or cafe. There is actually a lot I can say about this cold brew system, so I'm breaking it down into Pros, Cons, and FYIs (basically characteristics that are good or bad depending on your needs). Pros: - Makes excellent cold brew coffee with virtually no sediment (obviously the quality of coffee you select will ultimately determine flavor) - Makes regular cold brew or iced coffee concentrate - Appears to be very durable in construction - Made in the USA Cons - Not an aesthetically pleasing design - Requires a special filter that needs to be purchased in advance, online - Has a 2nd filter and silicone valve which need to be replaced episodically - Does not store neatly/compactly - Takes several hours (8 to 24) to make each batch - The provided recipe use weight measurments, but does not require a standard quantity (i.e. a bag you'd buy at the grocery store); so, you will most likely want to use a scale as you learn how much coffee to use in your brew. FYI - Makes a large quantity (2/5 gallon) - Is made of lightweight plastic It's possible this cold brewer is simply a poor fit for our family, yet ideal for someone else. Alas, when reviewing the pros and cons we experienced, I doubt my family will get much use out of this. I will update this review if something magical occurs and we fall in love with it...

Great brewer
Once I got it put together correctly, this cold brew toddy has been exactly what I was hoping for. If your toddy leaks in the closed position, you probably put the little plug in upside down. I love how simple this is to use too. My cold brew has turned out perfectly every time. Even though I have to purchase filters and I use more coffee grounds to get a great brew, I’m still saving money over my daily cold brew purchase at Starbucks.

Great cold brew system!
Overall, I would say that this cold brew system is a very good one. I’ve had some slight issues with the top lids, not closing when trying to brew coffee but after some force, I can generally get it to close. Good quality would recommend.
