First Impressions
I purchased the 6000 size to use popping for small to medium size Blackfin and Yellowfin tuna. It arrived today and there is something I need to mention before I go over the reel. There was absolutely no outer box, wrapping or padding over the fancy wooden box it comes in so it is pretty well beat up from shipping. It was covered only by the thin DHL shipping bag and nothing more. I mention this as it may matter to some. I could care less about the wooded box so it makes no difference to me. I bought it for the reel and not the box. I opted for DHL expedited shipping to get it faster. Shipping went fine because it only took three business days to deliver which was today. The reel (the ONLY part that matters to me) was well protected within the wooden box and arrived in perfect condition. I have owned and handled many $1,000 plus big game reels and I have to say this thing is stunningly beautiful by any comparison especially when you consider the low price for which it sells. The description is off calling it "ALL-Stainless CNC" when it is in fact CNC machined aluminum. This is what I expected it to be when I ordered it though. I expect they are meaning the internals (gears) as being stainless and not the reel body. The reel comes with a silver anodize finish with just the slightest tinge of what I would call gunmetal gray tone to it. It has VERY little machining marks and none at all that you would notice until you start looking closely at the weight reduction cutouts on the stem. Overall the machining quality is pretty much on par with best of the big name brand reels (Most of which are made in one Asian country or another anyway). Obviously I have yet to spool it up or fish with it but it does have an obvious smoothness approximately equal to the best spinning reels I own and better than most. Only time will tell how well it holds up but I expect by it's build quality it will hold up fine. Everything about it is silky smooth. I'm extremely glad I decided to try this one instead of laying out another $1000 for an American made equivalent. All in all I believe you are getting WAY more reel than the price warrants. I'll try and give an update after I've used it a while. Himenlens has assured me I would be able to get parts if ever needed. That's good to know although a well made and well cared for big game reel rarely needs parts. For those of you who don't trust an Asian made reel I suggest you look into where your favorite reel was made. Chances are good no matter what brand it carries and unless it is a Z-Bass, Van-Stall, (Shimano or Daiwa that was actually made in Japan for the Japanese domestic market) you will find it was most likely made in China as well.

Bad ass reel looks amazing and performs like a penn torque
Great reel, ive caught kingfish tuna grouper and big snapper!!! I fish mostly offshore in sw florida and i get alot of complements on the reel and asked if its worth the money. It is, i own stradics, sustains and spinfisherVs and i fall back to this reel all the time. Its solid and drag is smooth as butter fighting ling running fish like kings and tuna

It started to stiffen up on retrieval
I returned this reel because it simply started to stiffen up when cranking. This was something I really liked and felt good about purchasing after I received the product I can see it was well built, a little on the heavy side but well built and it felt very smooth. I used it a couple times without issue and about the 3rd time it just didn't feel the same it started to become very difficult to reel in even with no load but the 1.5 once lure. I thought this was something I would have for a very long time I guess I got a bad one.

All steel good quality reel. No plastic at all.
This is a well made reel. No plastic at all. I’m planning to use it on my next surf fishing trip. Not as smooth as the Shimano Saragosa 5000, but very close. Hoping to casts and catch thousandths of fish with this reel.

I just received my Heminlens AO8 4000. Recieved it way ahead of time and shipment arrived in perfect condition. The quality of the reel seems to be superb and craftmanship is that of more expensive reels can't wait to try it!
