Warm, balanced, and articulate with that classic humbucker tone
I am not an expert on reviewing pickups. I'm sure there are better reviews that go into great detail about how every aspect of these sound. Personally I find those reviews to be too complicated and only make you doubt your consideration. I know what sounds good and what doesn't. Secondly, your gear will have an effect on what I hear compared to what you'll hear. Your pedals, your amp, even your strings have an effect on your on your tone so take everything you read with a grain of salt. For reference, I got these installed in my Tokai Les Paul copy and ran it through a variety of Fender Pedals (Pugilist Distortion, Full Moon Distortion, and Santa Ana Overdrive) which ran through my Fender Champ 40 amp.CLEAN TONES: I think overall these sound pleasantly warm, well balanced, and have nice note separation and clarity when strummed. You'd be hard-pressed to find a set of Seymour Duncans that don't sound good on the clean channel.DIRTY TONES: Remember, this is HIGHLY dependent on your pedal, your amp, and how you EQ the two. Like the cleans, I find these pickups to be warm on the dirty channel. The highs can sometimes use a boost when using high gain, as sometimes they can get a little overpowered by the lows.OVERALL: These were a worthy upgrade. In summery, they are warm, balanced, and have wonderful note separation and clarity that play phenomenally on either clean or dirty channel. You won't be disappointed in these. Again, it's really hard to find a set of SD pickups that don't sound good.

Awesome!!!!!!!
The sound I've been striving for... now simplified at the source of the electric guitar's tone - the pickup!!! I now have two guitars loaded with these!

Great upgrade for any humbucker guitar
I put these in my Epiphone SG 1966 reissue... I had already upgraded the wiring harness in the guitar and improved the sound a bit (I highly recommend wiring upgrades to anyone with soldering ability).. But the stock pickups were still muddy. This Seymour Duncan pickup set came packaged securely... 2 day shipping, right on time. Wiring diagram was accurate and easy to follow. I installed them as if they were regular 2 wire humbuckers.... No coil splitting, so I can't speak to that feature. The sound these deliver s great. I've played them through 2 different tube amps... They create a nice smooth overdriven tone as the guitar volume is increased - and right near the top, they create an awesome buttery "sizzle". I think I was grinning ear to ear the first time I heard it. Think "Lemon song/Bring it on Home" from LZ II. Cleaned up some... I was able to get tones similar to Clapton/Cream "Crossroads". I really like how the signal "stays articulate" with these pickups, even with a lot of overdrive or even a bit of distortion... I can strike chord, then immediately arpeggiate with clarity... So nice!I'm giving these a 4 and not 5 based on the price. They seem to be priced about 30% higher than similar Seymour Duncan offerings. That said though, they definitely made my $350 Epiphone sound like a vintage Gibson costing 7 times the price... Very pleased!

Whole lotta tone!
These pickups do not disappoint. They are articulate and very unique. They don't sound like any other Seymour Duncan's such as the Antiquity's. Yes very Jimi Page sounding but these are pickups that you will find your own tone. Great for blues funk and rock n roll!

Maximum R&B!
I'm really impressed with these pickups! Both the neck and bridge are bright and clear and with just enough output. And I'm not sure if it's just a weird fluke, but I get crazy long sustain from them for some reason. I have them in an alder-bodied Stratocaster with a maple fretboard (with 500K pots) - so if you're worried that they may be too bright in your strat or tele, I'm here to tell you that you need not be.I've owned quite a lot of after market pickups over the years, and this set is possibly my favorite humbucker set. The only real criticism I have is that they're really expensive relative to other pickups...

Puro rock!!!
