Great Thermometer!!
I purchased two of these thermometers from Target a few years back and really liked them. Target stopped carrying them so I turned to the best shopping site ever to get a few more. The two new thermometers were exactly the same as the previous two from Target so I was very happy about that. I made sure the ones from Amazon weren't cheap fakes or rejects by placing them side by side with the Targets and they were spot on, no variance in temp. I have a garage fridge that gets a bit testy in the cold Minnesota winters so I cannot use the freezer section for about four to five months out of the year. The other seven or eight months we use it to store frozen treats and ice cream so it is critical to know when it's time to yank stuff out before it melts and spills everywhere. These thermometers do the job perfectly. The remaining two thermometers are in my house fridge and give me a constant update on temp. Throughout the year it is necessary to adjust cooling settings both in the house and garage fridges so these make that job a snap. Neither of my fridges are fancy so turning the cooling knob from three to four doesn't tell me a thing but all the guesswork is gone now. Lastly the most important and helpful part of these thermometers is the color coding. The temperature danger zone is clearly marked and makes it very easy to just glance and know you are safe. The words REF are visible in the pink section on the thermometer so you know immediately if there is a problem or not. As a restaurant manager for four years I understand the importance of proper food temperature. I would not chance my families health especially knowing I could have easily spent five or six bucks to help prevent a food borne illness. If you've ever had one you know what I mean.

Found it very useful
We bought a new freezer for the basement and were not convinced the temperature was correct. Looking at different options we decided to try this thermometer to verify. It seems to be accurate and the color coding is helpful. We also used it to check out the fridge/ freezer in the kitchen and it showed we could adjust our freezer temperature slightly. We might get a slight power saving over time as a result. The unit is simple but sturdy. Nice stainless finish and the hook is useful as you can hang it from the underside of a shelf and not affect storage space. It won't tell you if you lost power but is a good indicator of temperature and at the $6 we paid for it, with free shipping for orders over $25, it was excellent value and peace of mind.

Homebrewing Approved!
I got the Tru Temp 3507 (this item) and 5924 Refrigerator-Freezer Thermometers at various points for use in homebrewing. The 3507 has a 2.5" display with red/blue colors and the 5924 has a 3.25" display with blue/purple/yellow colors to mark the various temperature zones. Both are accurate relative to each other as well as to another digital thermometer that I have. I use various digital thermometers and thermostats, but like to have an analogue one nearby as well to provide a double check (I don't always trust the digital ones since I've had problems in the past). I typically keep one near my fermenters to check the ambient air temperate and the other in my chest freezer that was converter to a refrigerator to hold my kegs to double check my digital thermostat. The bases are plenty large enough for them to stand without falling and the two way hook on top is nice for hanging on the freezer basket or on the keg air line. So far, I have had no issues with these thermometers.

Great for checking temps on old/cheaper refrigerators
Bought two of these to check the temps on the fridge we have in our garage. It's a cheaper refrigerator that uses dials to control temperatures rather than being able to set it to a specific digital temperature. One is hanging in the fridge and other in the freezer. Nice size -- big enough to read easily, but not too big to take up much space. I really like the color layout on the dial as well. Accuracy seems pretty good though we have no secondary, professional way to measure. It's been VERY useful since we live in PA and experience all 4 seasons. Refrigerators in garages here are prone to vast swings in ambient temperatures which results in making tweaks to the controls especially in winter and summer months. These little gadgets make that task MUCH easier.

Cheep, small, does the job
I hammock camp and solar cook. For both of these activities knowing the temperature is important. Though this is designed to be used in the refrigerator it works fine in the solar oven, the needle just loops around. With an oven thermometer it helps get a fine tune degree, that most oven thermometers in the same price range wont give. I prefer these metal spring thermometer to either the alcohol/mercury type, as these spring wont burst. I had a few alcohol thermometers burst in my solar ovens. Don't put them in direct flame though. The metal gets thrown out of wack and gets stuck. They are great for the throw away needs I have for them and take a beating. I prefer these over the electric type because I am not battery depended, a post oil-crash consideration.

Works and seems accurate - color coding is very helpful
This thermometer works great so far. We have one in our fridge and one in the freezer. We had a mercury thermometer before this and I'm pretty sure it was not providing accurate readings. The color coding is super helpful since it gives you a reading at quick glance. Whenever I go in the fridge or freezer I take a quick look and know if the fridge needs adjustment or is failing. This is important for me since we just had to replace our fridge/freezer due to the pump going bad. The only way we knew it was broken was when we went to get some ice cream and discovered it was liquid. The old thermometer said the temp was fine... it was lying.

consistent and easy to read
i bought four of these in an attempt to determine the cooler temps in all my beer coolers at the bar. each one of my coolers had its own thermometer already, but they always seemed to be inconsistent vs the temperature the coolers were set to. first thing i did was put all four of the new thermometers into the same cooler, right next to each other, to test their consistency. all four fell within a couple degrees of each other, which was good enough for my needs. so then i distributed them all to their new homes, and left the old ones in the coolers as well to see how close they were. one of the old thermometers was actually off by almost 15 degrees! these thermometers have larger dials than the ones i used before. they're easy to determine temperature range at a glance with the color-coded bars, if you're too far away to read the numbers or have less-than-perfect eyesight (like me). now i have all my coolers set to the same temperature. since we use these coolers to stock and sell beer, temperature consistency is necessary because customers notice when their new beer is warmer than their last one. that's not good, and it's also easily avoidable with these new thermometers. i bought my thermometers from gatzies for $4.68 each + free shipping. they arrived in about a week, in retail packaging inside a cardboard box. they also arrived in perfect condition. great purchase!

Landlords hate it!
This baby got me a new fridge and probably prevented some kind of mold disease from laying me up. Don't take chances, know your fridge temperature. I thought I was crazy, but sure enough, it wasn't just in my head: My pop wasn't cold out of the fridge. Got this guy, hung it up and sure enough I was in the "dangerzone" (which is printed on the product as "WARM" but it's all in red so you can pretty much get what its saying even if you can't (eyesight, literacy) read it. Wait, that literacy thing doesn't make sense, you're reading this. Oh man. Anyway. Good thermometer, in both F and C. I give it an A!
