Best TV I've ever owned!
I don't need to excessively reiterate what others have said about the picture quality because it truly is spectacular! So I'll focus on other aspects of this excellent product.I have been a loyal Samsung customer for the last eight years for several reasons. So far, they have demonstrated excellent reliability and build quality across several of their product lines, including not just TVs, but also with their Blu-ray players, cell phones, accessories, headphones, etc. Even when I did have a minor issue with another TV (2010 Samsung plasma HDTV), they happily sent out an excellent and courteous repair tech to my house, even though the TV was slightly out of warranty!SOFTWARE:So now here are my actual comments on this particular model (UN48JU7500). First off, Samsung has decided to pull a bold move and switch their smart TV OS platform over to Tizen. It's relatively new, so a few bugs here and there are expected, but so far they have been minor. What surprises me the most though is that they have been frequently updating / patching it. I have a wired ethernet connection for my TV, so the first update on day one was no problem. For those of you using WiFi only, the latest OS version (a little over 1 GB) is easily accessible on their website. Just load it onto a small USB drive and plug it into the back of the TV (I used the blue USB 3.0 port on the actual TV, not the ones on the One Connect Mini box). After that, WiFi will work perfectly. As of today (5/23/15), version 1214 of the OS is out. I did have a minor hiccup during the update though. The first online update brought me up to something like version 1016, but luckily I had an empty USB drive lying around. Initiating the update through the menu did not work as intended, but a quick reboot fixed that in no time; the software updates QUICKLY! Also worth noting is that for the longest time, smart TV user interfaces were slow and clunky... but Tizen running on the built-in quad-core processor is buttery smooth! Even the 3D glasses' firmware has been updated as well... or was that my imagination? I don't remember too well... oh well, LOL.By now, plenty of apps are available: streaming, games, educational, informational, etc... roughly 300 total so far! That's really good for such a new platform! Also, note that the TV comes with roughly 4 GB of internal storage for apps and content, and the OS itself uses up about 1.2~1.4 GB, but the apps are small so there's plenty of room to install as many as you want!4K and 3D:It's pretty well known that Samsung currently has the most options for 4K streaming content. Amazon has a decent library, Netflix has a small one, YouTube has several 4K videos, but I'm still waiting for the Comcast / Xfinity app to come out so I can have even more sweet sweet 4K goodness. I'd also like to note that the 4K upscaling is pretty darn good, even for old school standard definition (480i)! Luckily though, Seinfeld was actually filmed in widescreen:) Up close, of course you can tell the difference, but after sitting about 4 to 6 feet away, I can't even discern between 4K and 1080p, although I do have a very slight astigmatism in my right eye. Also, the video compression from Amazon and Netflix 4K streaming is barely noticeable. You have to look closely and have a trained eye to identify it, but that's really the content provider's issue. Now if 3D is your thing, VUDU has BY FAR the largest selection of streaming content, although the best movies can only be purchased at this time, rather than rented... and you'll be looking to drop anywhere between about $22 ~ $37... but hey, if you can afford this TV, you can afford to buy 3D movies for it, so quit whining about your first-world problems, LOL. Personally, if the 3D movie you want to watch is not available for rental, just buy the stupid 3D Blu-ray disc; the compression is superior... to the trained eye of course... but that might just be some sort placebo thing, haha. By the way, the 3D Blu-ray movies work great when played on my Xbox One!REMOTE:By far, the coolest feature about the remote is the Nintendo Wii-style motion tracking. Yes... you can use the OEM remote like a Wii controller!! It can also control my cable box! Overall, the remote takes a little getting used to since the number buttons are only available on the screen, but the Wii-style motion tracking mediates that issue. Another cool thing is that the remote works with the TV via RF, not traditional IR, so you don't need to have line-of-sight to the TV to use it. Also, because of that, some software updates will also include firmware updates for the remote. It seems that the remote does still also have an IR transmitter for working with other devices, but I'm too lazy to look that up in the manual, LOL.SOUND:One of the selling points for me on this TV was the inclusion of some decent woofers (20 W, in addition to the 20 W mid-high range speakers)... not sub-woofers though. So bass handling is better than my previous 2013 6-series LED Samsung TV, but not as good as my sound studio's bass response. I should note that in my spare time, I work as an audio engineer as I have formal acoustics graduate coursework under my belt as part of my engineering master's degree... yes, I like to gloat... a little... actually, A LOT, LOL.So you might be wondering why I didn't get something like a soundbar, or surround sound system... well that's because I'm kind of cheap... not too cheap, just a little, LOL. So having decent stock sound system was fairly important to me. With that said, sub-bass frequencies are somewhat there, but you're not really going to feel them, as in a nightclub. However, I was surprised that bass music sounds fairly acceptable and tight. Punchy kick drums decay well, so they're not muddy, and the distortion is minimal, and only noticeable to a trained ear. Speaking of which, after years in the studio I've developed a good ear for mixing and mastering music, so just by listening I was able to get a decently "flat" frequency response with some minor EQ tweaking, at least better than what I expect out of most TVs.SCREEN MIRRORING and DLNA:This worked better than I expected, and it was easy to setup! The screen mirroring wireless latency was roughly the same as with my former 2013 Samsung LED TV; about half a second! I wasn't able to test this using a wired connection via the MHL port though as my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge does not support MHL... I still don't know why they removed that feature, but whatever... again, first-world problems, LOL.What surprised me the most though was that unlike my old 2013 Samsung LED TV, this model supports wireless video content sharing (DLNA) in Full HD (1080p) from my iPhone 6 and Galaxy S6 at 60 FRAMES PER SECOND (FPS)! Android has it built-in, so setting it up was easy. However, iPhone doesn't. Fortunately, there is a work-around because... wait for it... there's an app for that, LOL! You have a few options. I tried both Samsung's own Smart View 2.0 app and the AllCast app. Both worked FLAWLESSLY, again, even at 60 FPS! So at least I can share photos, videos, and music to my TV from my iPhone :) Also, screen mirroring and DLNA-sharing 4K content from my Galaxy S6 worked BEAUTIFULLY :) I have yet to try wireless screen mirroring with my laptop using WiDi, which I guess is based on the Miracast standard (??), but I may try that out soon and update this review.GAMING:So by now you can probably tell that I'm a huge nerd... so of course I'm going to do some gaming on this thing. First, let me just say that you don't need to put the TV into "Game Mode" to enjoy a low latency gaming experience. My best guess as to what Game Mode does is it eliminates or reduces some video post-processing that the TV applies to all displayed content?? Maybe the 4K upscaling?? I guess it reduces this to get the video rendered faster, giving you a slight latency advantage in fast-paced gaming, like first-person shooters and racing games. I didn't notice a difference in latency or video quality between Game Mode on and off... but I didn't really look too closely or examine this rigorously. So now that that's out of the way, video games look AMAZING on this thing. This is truly where the 4K upscaling shines. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare never looked so good... even better than on my 2010 Samsung plasma TV! "Ghosting" is non-existent, the picture is crystal clear, and the experience is immersive (thank you curved screen)... so who needs an Oculus Rift now? Not this guy, LOL... actually, I still really hope the Oculus eventually goes mainstream... but until then, I have this marvel of engineering! Also, when you get a chance, play fast-paced games with the "Auto Motion Plus" setting set to "Smooth"... you won't be disappointed. So stop thinking about it and just buy this TV! I struggled to decide between this model and its 6-series counterpart (UN48J6700). But the addition of woofers, 3D, curved screen (I know it's gimmicky, but I still like it), and the One Connect Mini box made the extra 400 or 500 bucks worth it! Speaking of which, I love the idea of the One Connect Mini. I wish it was the fully-featured, full-size One Connect, but hey, it's better than not having any sort of external upgradeable component, period. Although I do wonder if I can use a regular One Connect... haven't been able to find an answer to that yet.Again, seriously though, stop thinking about it and just get this stupid thing, LOL. Just eat only Ramen noodles for a month if you have to, just like you did in college... you'll thank me later. Cheers! :)

Very VERY worth the money this thing is AWESOME
Ok. Let's just start with the basics first. I'll eventually tell you about the screen quality and all of that. Sorry about the long review but this thing is amazing. i'm going from a vizio 55" 1080p smart tv about 3 or 4 years old to this tv. well worth the price no doubt. night and day difference.Sound quality:Amazing! this thing seems to have a subwoofer built in. there are a few modes. one of them is Sports mode which amplifies EVERYTHING and makes the speakers super loud. the bass quality is really good being stock embedded speakers inside a tv. you have access to a graphic equalizer, and you can fully customize everything in the audio. You have Cinema mode too which rocks and sounds really good. The remote control:The remote doesn't look like much but it really doesnt have to. The TV has a built in web browser among many other things you can use the remote to surf the web as you watch tv (split screen) you can use it as a mouse cause it has a built in accelerometer. It also has voice recognition so you can type with your voice if you want to. it works well too. The remote also is a universal remote with help from the tv.The 3D quality:3D in this unit seems really good so far. i've only had this thing running for about 2 hours now. i'm on my PC in 3D mode (I have a Asus GTX 1080 video card) with a set of 3D glasses running at 1080p cause thats the resolution 3D wants. Normally my resolution is 3840x2160 (my machine is having some issues right now due to other problems i have to reload it but i'm being lazy right now) This TV DOES come with a basic set of 3D glasses but i opted to buy a pair RF Glasses compatible with ssg-4100gb,ssg-5100gb, ssg-3500GB,ssg-3570gb,ssg-3300gr. ssg-3300cr, ssg-5150gb, ssg-3320cr and many other brands(email us with your exact brand or tv). We also have emitters compatible with all these glasses--inquire anyway. these i bought have a built in rechargeable battery the TV sees and detects them perfectly.Smart TV Functions:not only does this thing have a full web browser, but a full range of apps and even games. i think i even saw some multiplayer basic game. i only looked once so dont quote me on that. netflix, hulu, all that. there's too much to list and its a wide range. i have this tv online via wifi ac. so its quick. It needs to be when streaming 4k content. there's a ethernet connector if you want to hardwire which i personally recommend for the end user to do.connectivity:There are really no ports on the tv itself. there's a standard red / white / yellow (right, left, video) video port, and a yybbgg video for older HD devices and a high density port for this external device samsung includes with the tv. this little box has 4 hdmi ports, 2 usb ports and a TOSLINK port. it also is where the remote communicates to. so thats sort of cool. the cable length is about 5 or 6 feet. so its long enough for me anyway. The screen:this thing is amazing. super bright, clear, very nice. the true motion stuff is sort of weird to get used to at first but its cool after a while. the screen is just amazing. i cant explain it.samsung smart features:If you have other samsung phones or devices, the tv will sense them and want you to pair them to the tv for remote viewing and such. i have all samsung devices and phones so that was very cool.Shipping and packaging:if you buy a tv from amazon you have to schedule it. dude comes and delivers the unit (he will NOT set it up for you or pull it out of the box its not his job to do so) he inspects the package and makes sure it is without damage sends a couple of pictures off to amazon for verification, and you sign off on it saying it got there in one piece. that way it protects you and them. the packaging was god like. i doubt if you even toss a aircraft carrier on the top of the thing will it damage the package. very very well done. they take great care in protecting the display. took me a while to clean up all the foam and all that stuff lol but thats ok. i was expecting that.
