If you're looking for a traditional japanese deer fountain, this is a cute replica but it doesn't make the thump sound.Arrived cracked, hence the 3 stars. But I glued it together and it works just fine. Doesn't come with enough rocks really to cover the bottom like in the picture. But I used the available rocks to block the water drain gap around the outside and put some spare aquarium rock in the center.Overall, it's cute and works well (once glued).

Inserted batteries and tried the on/off button numerous times but still not working, now I have to order the 3V power adapter (which is not included) to see if able to get this work!

it's much too small to actually hear the water at all. All you will hear is the sound of the bamboo tapping against the bamboo below it as it "tips". It's cute and works fine, but don't expect to hear any bubbling water!! I received it as a gift, so am not too concerned, but it is disappointing if you really thought you were going to hear the "soothing sounds of trickling water"!!
