Swann WiFi Series 1080p Floodlight Security System

Summary - don't buy one. Now for the detail; this started out as a great little cam/light combo, fairly easy to install and register with their app, and way more reliable than our Ring doorbell. Playback was solid right off the bat and the app was easy to use for cam and light control. Then Swann updated their app and rendered the unit useless. The camera is usually unavailable in live view and I can't access past files, if they've even been recorded. Even the basic movement sensing of the floodlight randomly turns itself off without notifying me, meaning I have to try and turn it on via the app which only sporadically finds the camera. It's a shame that a sound product can be so roundly screwed by poor software backup. I've waited a few months after migration before writing this in the hope that they could sort the bugs, but if anything it's got worse. Online support is little more than 'turn it off then on again'. Total garbage, buy something else.

I have CCTV, Ring doorbell on my home which I thought was sufficient, however we had some undesirable who was going round in the early hours of the morning testing everyone's cars to see if one had been left unlocked! They also tried to force open a van's door, it was happening regularly. Footage was shown to the police which was crystal clear but in black and white. The police was unable to identify if the person they had in custody at the time was the person in the footage captured due to it being black and white! So I had made a decision that I would try and get any night footage in the future to capture colours so that no questions could be asked whether the clothing was red/blue/green/purple etc!! Was very frustrating especially when the footage was clear!I first installed some floodlights to the property thinking that would then make night time footage become colour, but I found it actually worsened the quality of the night view footage.I had seen the ring floodlight cam and was considering it but was put off significantly by the price! after all I already had cctv and a video doorbell so did I really want to spend £200 or more on one of those!!Then I saw this product, instantly without hesitation I purchased it, and having an electrician in the family I had it installed within an hour of it being delivered! (saying that if you have existing wiring for a security light it is simple enough to swap over) took less than 20 minutes! It was simple to connect to the wifi and watch via the mobile phone app!It's great... it does just what I want/needed it to do. It captures footage in colour, making it easier to distinguish clothing! the footage is crystal clear. It captures a large enough area so that you can monitor your surroundings. Very Very easy to use. This should be enough of a deterrent to anyone thinking about either trying to break in to our property or trying their luck with the car doors! if not then it will capture them and any footage passed on to the police will make them far far easier to recognise due to colour footage!I now feel secure, and know should I ever need to pass footage on to the police that they will have a better chance of catching any undesirables with the footage that this captures. The siren is a good feature (could be a little louder!) and also the 2 way talk function.Would I recommend this product? Absolutely! Unfortunately in this day and age it is awful that you have to try and secure your belongings and your home! This certainly helps to feel secure knowing that should anyone attempt anything they will be captured and the video footage can then be shared to the authorities and to the local social media in finding these people and stopping them!I like the fact that you get 2 days of recordings free, can select when to arm and disarm the camera so that you don't get notifications constantly. and if needed can pay for a subscription to hold 30 days if needed. If you feel you want to add security to your home/office/workplace etc then I strongly suggest!

Have two of these, no problem fitting or setting up, put off one **** trying my car door at 3.30 in the morning! Only stopped 5 star because the app can take a time to connect at times, but I need it for night time when I'm at home when its almost instant 10Sec. Downloading the clip and sending it to the police was very ease. No running costs at all if you copy the file in less than 7 days.

Due to the circumstances we have actually only recently been able to have the camera installed. I downloaded the app and tried to connect to the Wi-Fi; this proved very difficult. I was unable to connect to the camera to the Wi-Fi and after repeated attempts we are unable to use it so have taken it down. We paid around £170 for this camera and have been left with very expensive flood lights as we are now unable to return. We recently purchased another brand of outdoor camera which was significantly cheaper. The new camera connected to Wi-Fi with no problem so I don't understand why it was such an issue with this swan one. After some research it also seems that others are having problems connecting to their Wi-Fi on this camera and with the app. If I could give this camera no stars I would, avoid and save your money.

Google assistant functionality is broken in these cameras unlike what Swann advertises. I spoke their support but they have no clue when this will be fixed. If you are hoping to make this camera work with Google environment , tough luck.

The software is a little ropey and buffers like mad on my Echo show which is really frustrating on a live feed, even though its only 5 ft from my indoor router and anchored above my front door with one brick and one thin partition wall in the way. reason for 3 stars. Swann need to sort out the software IMHO. Still cheaper than the Ring version by a considerable amount of money.

This was a waste of time and energy. Firstly it wouldnt connects to my wifi . According to their online chat it turns out the camera was registered with someone else ( its brand new) I then had to sent them proof of purchase and a picture of the camera . Was told to contact them the next day to comfirm its ok the start the set up . When doing so the agent advised that I would need to wait another day because customer services was not open on the weekend . So 3 days untill I get an answer this with the flood lights on 24/7 and the neighbour's complaining . Finally after chasing them through on line chat I got confimation to pair the camera. Camera still not pairing even buying a Wifi Booster. Unable to get through to their tech help line . And the call back facility not working.In essence you get what you pay for.AVOID

It is a very good camera with floodlight . Exactly what I was looking for . It stores videos for 2 days without paying any extra subscription fees and the additional siren functionality is very useful too. I purchased 3 so altogether the sound is loud enough . The only reason giving 4 stars is I couldn't figure out how to stop the floodlight from coming on when motion is detected or turning down the brightness of the floodlight when motion is detected. The floodlight is bright enough even at lower brightness and it is affecting my neighbors so be beware of this before buying .Amendment: Poor customer service from Amazon . I got 3 of them a couple of week back and the price has gone down and Amazon wouldn’t refund the difference. Very poor service compared to Very and other retailers who would have easily refunded the difference.Amendment: Keeps turning on every time a bug/ insect passes by . Also the app is not helpful at all . Sometimes it doesn’t load / notifies you of the events .
